Saving a steepleFriday, August 29, 2008 @ 12:19AM Thursday, August 28 LEE — The First Congregational Church steeple — a beacon for travelers to town — will soon glow again. Church members are spending more than $90,000 to repair and repaint the tallest all-wooden, post-and-beam steeple in New England. The white spire to the 151-year-old historic house of worship is often the first structure motorists see as they exit the MassPike in Lee.
