Citibank Student Loans Knowledge Base

Citibank student loans, are they harder to get than astrive? Astrive approves me for student loans all the time using my mom as the co-signer but Citibank recently denied me for a $5000 loan. I noticed their interest rate and origination fee rate were much lower though than astrive. I'm assuming it's just harder to get approved by them because they offer better rates or whatever. Does anyone have experience with how hard or not it is to get approved by them?
Has anyone else had a bad experience paying back student loans with Citibank? I had a student loan that I payed off in full when I came into some money, but I kept getting monthly bills. When I called Citibank, the tellers would give me vastly different amounts that I apparently still owed. In one day, four separate tellers gave me four different answers to how much I still owed, ranging from $.40 to $24,000.00. After a nightmarish year of arguing with incompetent Citibank employees, I finally got them to send me a letter saying I had fully payed off my loan a year ago--and they also send me a refund check with some of the extra money I payed them. I don't know if the experience has ruined my credit rating or not though. Has anyone else had an experience like this when paying off student loans? Should I take legal action?
Is there any way to consolidate federal student loans with a private student loan before the july 1 deadline? I have 3 student loans through the federal gov't (perkins, federal direct and a "GATE" - AES loan). I also have a small private student loan through citibank. I want to consolidate all 4 by the July 1 deadline but no one will combine private and federal. I get ads in the but they all seem like scams to me. Any financial experts have any ideas?
student loans through citibank? I need extra $ to live while going to school
citibank student loan promotional code? anyone have a citibank promotional code that i can use for my consolidation loan ?
Student financial assistance from chase or citibank? Anyone? Anyone get a private student loan through citibank or chase? Are there any other easier companies to go through? What actual paperwork is needed? I don't wanna go through sallie mae but 1 time I got one and they only required enrollment verification. This is only for people who got a student loan through chase istudentloan place. Spammers will be reported Anyone can reply except spammers.
which is a better lender for student loans: wachovia, wells fargo, edamerica, or citibank? i am an undergradutate freshman I need to borrow 15000 for the whole year
Question regarding private student Loans? I'm currently 19y.o. and I'm about to go back to college (finished 2 years at ITT Tech and now have a balance of $30k w/ Sallie Mae). The school that I'm planning to go to is LA Film School which costs $42k in tuitions. Now I'm hoping to get the maximum I can get from grants, scholarships, and the Sallie Mae federal loans but I'm going to be short that's for sure. It's only a 1 year program and they tell me it's probably not a good idea to get a job during the school year since the program is pretty heavy on the student. I'm an only child with a Mom that only makes $25k a year. She also has a lot of bills, bancruptcy, etc from the past so I'm unable to use her as a cosigner and I don't know anyone else I can use. So I was wondering where I should apply for a private student loan. Citibank, Chase, Bank of America, etc, and if they will allow me to borrow $20k+. My credit score is currently at 711 (FICO) and I'm very good at paying things off on time. Thanks for the help!
Viewing and Paying off loans on Citibank.com? I have a Student loan from CitiBank and I went to the site to view how much I owe and to pay some of it off online. Does anyone first of all know if it is possible... and if it is how do you do it? thanks
What is the best private student loan for someone with good credit? Chase, Citibank,Bank of America, Wachovia? Please don't mention federal, I'm only interested in private student loans. Lowest interest rates, fees, etc. Thank you!
Are private student loans a good idea for my situation? Hey guys, . I filed my FAFSA and I am ineligible for any federal loans, so I would have to take out private student loans. I have a co-signer with pretty good credit (credit score over 700) and, here's the kicker, I actually do have the money to pay it, but it's in in the stock market (it would be at a higher interest rate though). However, I was thinking of taking out a student loan since you can make small payments over a long period of time. Nevertheless, it seems like many people regret taking out these loans in the first place. So, a few questions: 1. Is it a good idea to take out a student loan? 2. Which lender do you recommend (so far I"m looking at Sallie Mae, Citibank and Access)? 3. Is there an option for automatic bill payment with these student loan lenders and would this prevent me from having the interest rate increase? 4. About what interest rates can I expect for a private student loan? Thanks so much for all your help.
Consolidating Student Loans? Heres the deal, i have about $35,000 in Personal Student loans through Citibank. I'm looking to consolidate all four loans into one thats stretched out over a long period. I plan on paying it back before the 20-30 years ive seen but right now I need the losest possible monthly payments to afford rent and such. Any suggestions of where to go or what to look for? Any help is greatly appreciated thankyou.
Are there any banks of institutions that consolidate student loans? So I've searched and called every bank and student loan consolidation firm and no one is consolidating, except for Citibank. I'm disappointed, I mean not even the government backed agencies and the gov't itself are willing to consolidate because the economy is so crappy. Anyone know any place where I can get a somewhat decent rate? And when I said everyone has closed their doors, even Nextstudent, Myrichuncle the list continues. All because it is not profitable to consolidate.
what is the best bank to consolidate student loans through? I need to consolidate my bank loans and federal sudent loans, which is the best. I am looking at citibank right now. Anyone have other suggestions? Thanks.!
Where can I get a good deal on consolidation for my private student loan? I have loans with the Student Loan Corporation through CitiBank, and I think they're too generous with themselves. I pay a whopping 8.250% on a 46,000 principal balance. Can I do better?
47% of income paid to Student Loans? I am paying almost HALF of my income out in student debt. No one can afford to do that. This is a new demand for payment. New debt. Do I have any options? My total bill is less than $5,000: so I haven't found a consolidation loan. I can give them 25% of my total income, but not 47%! Please read below and advise... I attended University of Phoenix, was assured that I would not incurr additional expenses outside of loan. Now I have original loan, citibank loan, and U of P is after me for additional money. The original loan company was applied to for U of P loan, they said they covered it, balance reflects change, but citibank is coming at me saying they paid! Citibank refuses to provide proof that I borrowed the money, but are attempting to attach to my credit. U of P will not accept lower payments, without attaching my credit. Original loan is the only one with a sane payment, and I am out of deferments, unless I go back to school and add MORE debt. This huge amount of payment is obviously temporary, the problem is that they all want to be paid right now. Another thing... Can Citibank attach my credit without providing me proof of debt? How do I protect myself from this?
It is a good idea stick with one lender for all student private loans, or stick w/the same for for all loans? I have gone through the same private lender (BOA) for all my federal and private student loans. However, this year I am thinking of borrowing from citibank for my private loan needs. Is it a wise move to switch to a new lender for my next loan, or should i stay with the same one? Even though citiassist has a slightly better rate, will my payments be more once i get out of school because the new lender will think i only borrowed 10,000 and charge me more based on that fact that they think that i can afford to pay more back? In other words, will having 2 lenders cause them both to think i only have borrowed from them, and consequently mean higher payments for me than if i were to stick with one lender?
What companies have people used to consolidate private student loans? I tried CitiBank and they are just a bunch of rude, @$$holes that could not communicate. I was denied because "they never got a letter that they never requested from me" exact quote from Winie the Supervisor (Operator code #SE009). So I am looking for another, creditable company to consolidate with. I see that many of the large banks are pulling out of this practice. So if you have consolidated let me know who you used and how happy you were with their service.
which is better for student loan - Sallie Mae or Citibank ? SM doesn't offer much benefits as Citibank. Which one do you think is better ?
If I consolidate my student loan with a personal loan can I still write off the interest? I had a federal student loan which I consolidated about 8 years ago to someone who eventually sold that loan to Citibank. I pay about 8.35% in interest. I am considering paying off that student loan with a personal loan where I can get a better interest rate. If I do this will I still be able to write off the interest I pay on my taxes?
private loans from citibank? i am about 5,000 dollars short for my college education. what are some of youre experiences with citibank, and i would also appreciate some recommendations for other private loan companies which you have all had positive experiences with. also dont say not to go with student loans, i have exhausted all my public loans. also what are some of youre experiences with parent plus loans. any replies would be appreciated, please, i really need help!!!
What are the best Student Loans? I am trying to find a good student loan. Which lender do you think I should go for? I heard Citibank would probably be the best. I am still waiting for my dad to file his tax papers so I can complete the FAFSA form. What is good other than FAFSA?
Using student loans for rent? While in college, the minimum wage job I have is not going to allow me to pay for rent, unfortunately. I am receiving a loan from my university (but it does not cover all expenses) then asking for money from a Citibank loan. What I did is asked for more money than my tuition will cost from citibank. My school will just use what is needed then give me the rest in a check that I can use to pay my rent or whatever other school costs, correct? I'm going to call and get things straightened out soon, but if anyone here has any tips or pointers for this kind of thing, help would be appreciated!
Chase, Citibank, or other for student college help? Do you think I can get a $5,000 private student loan with any company with a 537 FICO score but with a cosigner who has a good FICO score? Astrive doesn't have my school listed, don't wanna use sallie mae and Suntrust.
Any advantage or disadvantage to having bank accounts with the same bank as your student loan lender? My student loan lender will be Citibank starting in August... Bad idea to get a checking and/or savings with them also?
Any student loan companies still offering to 2 year colleges? I called Chase today to renew my student loan and they dropped my college. So did Citibank. I'm in a pickle here. Federal money isn't available to me. Anyone know of any company still offering a student loans to a 2 year college (edison community college)?
Student loans, help!? I really need some help with student loans. I have been to many people to help me but no one knows the right information. My parents want to get a personal student loan and I was looking at one through citibank but I don't understand how the interest rates work. How much will I owe after 20 years? Also, do you get the whole loan right away, or is it in payments? I really need some help!
Anyone get a chase or citibank loan? Question? I was just wondering what verification was required? Like income verification or just school verification? This is only for people who got a student loan through chase istudentloan or citibank. Do they require income verification paperwork? I did a sallie mae once and it was super easy...just asked for copy of drivers licenses and enrollment verification.
Chase, Citibank, or other for student help? Do you think I can get a $5,000 private student loan with any company with a 537 FICO score but with a cosigner who has a good FICO score? Astrive doesn't have my school listed, don't wanna use sallie mae and Suntrust.
Will they help me with both Private & Federal Stafford Student Loans? My situation: My school qualified me for the subsidized and unsibsiduzed stafford loans. However, I need more money. So... If I allow Citibank to be my lender, do I get stafford AND private loans from them? Or will they just handle the private loans?
any problems with citbank student loans out there? i applied for a residency/relocation loan from citibank and just got an email saying i was denied. i'm positive i have nothing bad in my credit report, i do have a lot of debt already from med school but not more than anybody i know. i sent em a cable bill for proof of address and a letter from my new residency stating i'm actually starting soon. i don't get it, i'd call but its late :o(
Private student loan ripping me off!? My citibank private student loan has gone up to 9.25%!!! It makes me so mad. Would it be better to transfer it to a lower interest credit card? Will it affect my credit? I'm good about paying on time.
What is a reputable Student College loan company? I'm going to college in Spring, and I need a student loan. I have a cosigner, my mother, and need to look over lenders. I'm considering CitiBank. Please let me know
A Bunch Of Qts Re: Private Student Loans. Input appreciated!? Now that it is getting close to the Fall '08 semester, I am getting ready to apply for private school loans two weeks from now. Returning to school in my 30s to finish my degree. Yes, Federal, scholarships, etc have been maxed out. Is it best to apply in person vs on-line/over the phone? I plan on stopping by the new Citibank branch in Harvard Square for my first attempt. Have you heard any positive or negative feedback on any of these that I'm considering: Citibank, Chase, Wachovia, Campus Door, Nelnet, Suntrust, Edamerica, Wells Fargo, US Bank, SunTrust Bank, Student Loan Network, Discover, StudentLoans, Campus Door, College Loan Corp, My Rich Uncle, Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority (anyone use this state-bases lender)? Who are the biggest and most secure lenders in the industry? Anybody use peer-to-peer lending? I plan on attending graduate school after undergrad. Are all private loans deferrable until after grad school? Is this a common feature of any private loan or does one have to be careful that although it says payments begin 6 months after the 4 years of undergrad, that deferment is extendable if one attends grad school? Any info on credit scores, Fico, finding out which lenders pull which score (TU is my highest) so I can target those lenders? Best to apply to all the lenders in a single two week period, so it hopefully only hits one's credit report once? Or is it best to apply to only a select few lenders because each time you apply it lowers your credit score? Do you have a preferred lender list of companies from your school that might be useful for anyone to use? What kind of terms in loan offers should I beware of? What mistakes have you seen people make? I should look for a low APR, no origination fees, discounts, rebates, etc? Know of any other websites or books covering private student loan that you can recommend? As always, any useful information at all is very, very much appreciated. Thanks. Rags P.S. Let's not start a the-evils-of-private-loans thread here. There are enough of them around. I know the dangers. More detailed answers, please. Not just Citi is evil. Tell me why in detail. Awesome, Woolfie! Awesome Woelfe!
How do I know if my private school loan is upper or lower tier? I was recently approved for a private student loan through Citibank. How do I know if the loan is upper or lower tier? I did receive the requested amount but on the school code for the loan it says; LTCA. Anyone know what that means? Please help, I really need the money to come to me and not be kept by the school. Thank you so much for your help.
how can we get a student loan without a co-signer or with a co-signer who is not a US citizen? am an international student who hold a F1 visa. and I urgently need to get a loan which is around a few thousand dollars for my graduate study. :( Most loan companies, like CitiBank, they all require me to have a co-signer, and I do not have one at all :(

student loan options? I'm having a hard time finding a different loan that what I currently have with better options. I currently have a Citibank loan. However I'm looking for a legit company that can offer me fixed rates (i.e. not some X% above APR), deferred payments till 6 or more months after graduation or no longer a full time student, and at least $40,000 available per year. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have a loan already for this fall, but I'm still looking for better options. Since i applied for a loan for the summer, interest rates have increased 1 percent, adding $7,000 to my final payments, and that was on just a small sum of money, I hate to think what will happen in the next 3 years. Thanks

Student Loan Consolidation Companies? I am looking into consolidating my Private, Alternative student loans. I've already consolidated my Federal Loans. Aside from Citibank and SallieMae, what are some other loan companies?
Can I consolidate these two loans? I currently have two student loans: one with my state and one with Citibank. I am in forbearance with the state one and have missed payments on the Citibank. Do you think the state will accept the Citibank one even though I am behind? Or should I try to get a forbearance with Citibank first before trying to consolidate? Thank you for any advice/information. No lectures please.
who can i contact about an unauthorized student loan that was taken out in my name? i never applied for this loan, but apparently the school i attended recieved money because thats what CitiBank tells me. I was told by my academics advisor that The governement would pay for my schooling because I am low income with a child.. now months later, i get harassing phone calls from CitiBank saying I owe them money! This is BOGUS! Any help please? No i read everything I signed, but i do know that advisor wanted me into that school bad, and i feel she signed a loan out for me so she would get her commission for me joining the school. The lady at CitiBank said it was signed electronically on their site, ive never been on their site.
Student loan Help!? Hi i have a few questions about my student loan. I filled out my fafsa and did not qualify for financial aid. I was awarded a student loan for 1700 a semester. It was a federal loan. I was on citibank.com and saw that they offer student loans(both private and federal). Since i already filled out my fafsa can i apply for another federal loan? Or was what my school offered the maximum i can get. I only need the loan for 1 or 2 semesters. Thank you for the help
Which will be faster to get Student Loan for an International Student: Chase (Salliemae) or Citi? I mean Faster Processing, becasue I need loan as soon as possible. Any other faster options besides chase or citibank? Thank you for your help.

First Hawaiian Bank Stafford student loan? Does anyone have any experience going with First Hawaiian Bank as their lender for the Stafford loan? Which one is the best lender? I'm also thinking about Bank of America, Wachovia, Wells Fargo and Citibank.
how should i apply for private student loan? i started my credit history about almost 2yrs ago. and i have a good credit. now i'm about to apply for a private student loan and i'm confused. the thing is my dad has a bad credit history. and i don't have any other co-signer. how should i apply? just me (good credit) or me and my dad (good credit+bad credit=????) also, if i applied for a private student loan from bank of america or citibank or any other bank, and i was approved, could i cancel the loan if the APR was too high? if i apply for a private student loan, just 1 TIME (or just for my first year) when would i have to pay it? after i graduate?
no credit, no cosigner, parents have bad credit, got some federal aid, how can i get a student loan?!? I've applied for everything I could think of. I filled out the FAFSA, got as much federal aid as I can possibly get. Filled out an application for CitiBank with the only relative I have that was credit-worthy...turns out not even he was credit worthy. My dad has bad credit due to identity theft. We can't afford a lawyer to clear that up. My mom has bad credit because she got sick a couple years back and opted to pay medical bills instead of her student loan.. and where does that leave me?? SCREWED! I thought I had an out when I applied at MyRichUncle.com, but they would only approve me for $5,000...i need around $15,000. Does anyone see anything I might have missed?
Private student loan consolidation help? I'm looking into consolidating my federal loans. If I submit an application to find out if I am approved, I will have to give the ok before the consolidation goes through, correct? I just want to make sure that by submitting this application they won't automatically approve me and then I'll be screwed if the interest rate sucks. I would just call the company, but I am at work right now and can't use the phone. Any ideas? I'm going through citibank.
How can we make higher education more affordable? Rising tuition costs, private lenders (Sallie Mae, Wells Fargo, Citibank) offering their "private loans" to students that carry outrageous interest, and less payment flexibility than a credit card, kickbacks for financial aid officers.... Where does it end? What needs to be done to make education affordable, and reign in the corrupt student lenders that are strangling all of the money out of new college graduates?
Proof of debt? Citibank student loans center refuses to prove to me that I borrowed money from them. I say I didn't, they say I did. I have called repeatedly to ask for proof, it's been at least 8 weeks since I have begun this campaign to have them prove I owe. It's my name, my social, my school, but my school says they never got any money from Citibank for me. I also NEVER signed any papers with this company. I honestly did not know they provided student loans until they billed me. What can I do to keep them from attaching my credit? How do I prove this is not my debt?
consolidating private loans? which company is the best to consolidate private student loans i have one with citi bank and aes citibank did not approve me i guess because of my credit are thier any out thier that does not do credit check that are good or any other companies that they know of that work with people trying to get loans paid
How much private student loans should I take out for 2 years? My husband and I are starting similar college programs in a few months, and I'm not sure the amount of loans I should take out. We do not qualify for financial aid, so the majority will be private loans. Should I take out a large private loan for cover the full two years (living expenses, tuition, etc) or should I take out enough for one year and take out another loan for the next year? Which would be more beneficial? I've never used private loans before. Also for private loans I am considering Wachovia, Citibank.... and possibly Wells Fargo. Thank you
What credit card can I get with a 579 credit score? I am a college student who is trying to get a credit card. I just recieve a copy of my credit report, that I ordered because I have been turned down for credit twice. I have six inquiries that are on my report, all of which are correct. Three of which is from citibank (from a checking, savings and e-saving account) I opened with them. I did not know that they did credit checks before approving a savings of checking account. Anyway with the six inquiries that I have and two student loans both issued on 9/2006 and a 579 credit score. What credit cards if any can I get? I tried applying for a citibank card but i got turned down. I also tried chase and they told me I have too many recent request for credit...
Where Should I Apply For My Private Student Loan? First, I already filed the FAFSA and the university I'm going to in the fall (I'll be a freshman) sent me my financial aid package. It says that what the grants, perkins and stafford loans, and work-study won't cover, the PLUS loan (about $13,000) will. However my mom thinks her credit is not good enough for me to be able to get a PLUS loan from any lender so she says I have to get a private loan without a cosigner. Since I don't have any credit and now not a cosigner, I know it's going to be difficult to be approved for a loan of that amount. Where should I apply for a loan that doesn't require a credit history and cosigner? The university's website suggests Sallie Mae and Citibank but from my research both require good credit and/or cosigner. But I could be wrong. Other places I am looking at are US Bank and Chase. Has anyone been or know anyone in the same situation as me? What did you do? Thank You! I don't work now but I will work at least two jobs in the summer. I didn't know students could take out a PLUS loan. If I can do that, will I still need credit history and a cosigner?
Question for college students - Chase or Citibank, which is easier? Do you think I can get a $5,000 loan with either company with a 537 FICO score but with a cosigner who has a great FICO score? Do they require actual documents of income verification?
College and Finanacial Aid?? Okay this is the situation, my husband is a disable veteran. When I say disabled, I mean 100% service connected from the military and the VA has labeled him unemployable. About 8-9 months ago, he wanted to be busy so he enrolled in Axia College (its the sister school of University of Phoenix - you do all the classes online). He made sure to finish all the classes he started, but had to quit due to medical reasons. As it stands now, he will never be able to attend school again for med. reasons. The school (for some reason) had to give back the unused student loan to citibank, but now the school wants that money.. even though it wasn't used to attend classes. It totals like $1000, but my husband lives on a small compensation payment from the va.. he can't work, so that's all he gets. Is their a wavier or some way to fight this bill because of his medical conditions? Any information on this would be helpful. Thanks!
Which lender should i choose for a student loan? Suntrust Citibank Chase Wachovia EdAmerica Wells Fargo
Citibank Mistake? I filled in a student loan application and i got pre approved. i requested the forms be sent to be for an official signature. i found put i put the repayment loan "to pay while in school" instead of "deferred till graduating", if i cross this out and put the deferred option, will this interfere with my pre approval?
Can creditors prosecute you if you attempt to pay at least something everymonth? I have a credit card account with citibank and haven't paid. A "law' office contacted me saying that payment has to be paid in full and I dont have any payments options. They said that my student loans i have with them too they can turn them into default as of consequence of this debt. I told them to do what they have to do because paying in full is not an option for me now. What can they do about it? is it true about my school loans? can i still make payments to stop this? They always get loud and offensive like if you were scum.
If Citibank goes belly up? Will I still have to repay my student loan or am I off the hook?
If Citibank goes belly up? Will I still have to repay my student loan or am I off the hook?
Credit question: Income to Debt ratio? I have a question regarding my credit, FICO score etc.. I have student loans totalling ~ $35000, about 9000 of that are seperate non federal loans the other 26000 are consolidated federal loans with citibank. When considering income to debt ratio, how are they calculating this? on a monthly basis? I am paying ~ $200.00 a month on these student loans over a long fixed period of time obviously. My income is totalling ~3000.00 take home a month. I also have a loan with HSBC totalling 4500, paying about 150 a month for that. How does this debt fit into my debt to income ratio? I'm trying to get below the 38 percent d/i ratio to qualify for a mortgage. I also have a few credit cards totalling about 3500 bucks, I have the money to pay them off (which I will this month) How do these fit into debt to income ratio? I'm considering a mortgage in about 9 months and would like to upgrade my fico.
First Time Loan.. questions need answering!? I'm currently a 19 yr-old college student and under some family circumstances, I need money fast! I'm thinking about taking a loan of about $5,000 ~ 10,000, but I have a few questions to ask before going into a bank/ lender. 1/ Can I pull out a loan as a "student loan" but use it for personal use instead of using for my tuitions? 2/ Does my credit score affect whether the lender wants to give me a loan or not? (because I have at least $2,000 in credit debt but I've made my payments on time and my accounts are in good standing.) 3/ Would having my mom co-sign help me get more money or less money? (my mom's in debt as well but her credit rating is not too bad as far as I know.) 4/ I heard Citibank gives out good loan in reasonable APR etc etc... has anyone tried WAMU's loan? 5/ If my situation does not qualified as a "student loan" then would it be considered as a "personal loan"? Is there any particular name for it? thanks!

I know how to re-enroll.....i just dont know where to start...i mean its been almost 4 years since i took 'a break' form school, and now im stuck it work mode...thats all i do....work......i work to live....and i hate it...my passion is media....radio....advertising.....broadasting....i see so much for myself...and i know deep inside that mass media is my calling...but im in so much debt with student loans, and phone bills, and citibank credit cards that dont dont know which way is up......and my family dosent really have money to give me for help....so..how do i get out of this circle...how do i divied my $650 bi-weekly check....into 20 differnt pockets, and still pay rent and pay for school? my credit is shot (thanx to citibank..) and i cant get any loans....and as far as grants....who would give me one..HELPPPPPP I really want something better for my self....what do i do???
Can this be done? Can I get a job at Citibank or at Citigroup if I have delinquent student loans from this bank? Which by the way I already started paying.
Cap1 - Is this true??? A response I recieved regarding a cap1 question: """""Capital one very rarely gives out credit limit increases. Also they don't report credit limits to the 3 credit reporting agencies...so that has a way of bring down your score..they only report your high amount you've used...so it hurts with utilization. You are far better off with Citi or Bank of America and Amex. Stay away fron Cap 1"""""" Is this true? And if so... what do i do as i was turned down for citibank (i have a score of 720, 23k in student loans and no current credit cards - they said they wouldnt give me a card because i dont have a card) How can I get a credit card to start increasing my score more???
need advice from an accountant or advisor please!!? about 5 years ago i almost got stuck in one of those cashiers check scams. i realized something was wrong and i contacted the bank manager and long story short the manager would not help me and they froze my account for months and i called over and over and they refused to help me because no one knew about the scam yet so they blamed me. my account was frozen for months and i couldnt pay my bills and other companies left negative marks on my credit report that are still there five years later. im trying to apply for student loans and i need my credit score fixed. i already wrote an email to citibank but id like to know what else i can do or who else i should be writing to to get the negatives removed from my report. any assistance would be appreciated!
What is Sallie Mae? I'm a new student, and applied for a susidized stafford loan through Citibank. But I just received a letter from a company called Sallie Mae. The letter states that they recently received a loan application through my school, and that I need to complete an application on the web to secure my loan. What is this? Aren't I suppose to be just dealing with Citibank
Is it possible for me to get a private loan for college? (E2 visa)? I am going to be a freshmen at UCLA. i currently have an E2 visa and have been living in US for about 9 years. My petition for the NON-IMMIGRANT VISA waiver has been approved at the school, which means that that I will pay what the residents of California pay for tuition. I have applied for a private loan (citiassist undergraduate loan) one of the private loan companies preferred by UCLA financial office. I have gotten a co-signer who is an American citizen and the loan has been approved. However, when I attempted to get an approval from the school, they have told me that for some reason, they do not approve loans of an E2 visa student. So, I called the Citibank to find out what my other options are, and they have told me this has never happened before. I was wondering if theres anything i can do to get this loan. Thank you for your time.
What is Sallie Mae open net? I'm a new student. I recently applied for a loan at the financial aid office, and I choosed Citibank. The bank already sent me a letter stating that I was approved for a loan. They even showed a disbursement schduele. But now I received a letter from Sallie Mae open net, stating that I need to secure my loan, and sign a promissory note online. If I was already approved, why would I have to sign that now? When I went to the website, it seemed like I would be applying for a loan through them. What do you think is going on? Is this a scam?
Advice on student loan consolidation? I have loans through AES, Sallie Mae, and Citibank. I know how to consolidate them separately, but is there any way that I can make all three into one big loan so I'm only making one payment a month? Will AES buy out my private loans? Or can I somehow get at least one of the privates to buy out the other so I'm only making two payments? I know I need to call them, but I'm hard of hearing and it makes it very difficult to understand them on the phone. I'd like to go into the calls knowing as much as possible so that I get less confused. Any help would be appreciated!
