anyone have info on financial aid for college for single moms in wisconsin? I am looking into going back to school... i have heard that there is financial aid for single moms... how do i go about applying for that, and are there restrictions on which schools you can go to or if you can do online courses? any info would be so helpful! :)

I have contacted my local Dept of Human Services & apparently there isn't any help for people that are trying to make thier lives better for themselves & thier kids. what honest financial assistance is out there to help a single mom? I am a victim of domestic violence and have four children. I am trying to get on with my life and it has not been easy. I am not receiving any child support and the only assistance the welfare office is helping me with is food stamps. I am need of a house the one we are in now is most likely going to be condemened. I am only able to work part time due to therapy and counseling appointments for me and my children. I am not finding anything on the web that doesn't require a fee to get help with. I am a single mom with serious financial problems, can anyone help? Hi I am a single mother who is at her witts end with financial burden! I have a darling 2 year old who needs special attention and care. I use to work when he was younger at a daycare but it soon became impossible for me to work and have my son there with me and I had to be let go. I cant afford a babysitter or daycare for my son and I cant get state or government assistance I dont think. So I am unable to get a job and I would some day like to get back to college as well and finish my education. My bills are all backed up and its only going to get worse come this winter. I owe $15,000 in bills from over the past couple years and I am jst so depressed. I feel everytime I think things are getting better, I get pushed back down :( Does anyone know of anything I can do to make money while also taking care of my son? Single mom, full-time worker, want to go back to college. Need financial help!? I am a single mom and I work Full-time M-F. I graduated in 2001 with a BA and now I want to go back to college to major in something else. My problem is not really financing school, but the classes I need to take are when I work. So if I go back, I will have to quit work. But how will I pay all my monthly bills? I'm looking at $2000 ea month that I will need to come up with. for monthly expenses, such as rent, insurance, food, day care, utilities, student loan from when i went before. etc... ANy suggestions or ideas on what I can do to make this happen? I want to go for Art Education. The local college offers the degree and courses but most of the courses I need are only offered during the day when I work.
43 year old single mom needs financial aid to finish college with a GPA of less than 2.0 that was denied aid.? I am a single mother trying to go back to college and finish my degree in education. The last time I went to college was 23 years ago and my GPA was 1.56. I was denied financial assistance including student loans due to my GPA from when I was 18 years old! I have worked as a teacher for 8 years in a private school but want to finish my degree to be able to earn a better living for me and my daughter. Where can I get help? I don't make enough to pay for tution and books. I work 25 hours a week to be able to be home with my 11 year old when she gets home from school. The birth father has had his rights revoked, so he is not paying child support and that will not be an option. I currently work part time [making about $800 a month]. im a single mom and could use a little financial help. i live in indiana.? my daughters dad moved out in february and is on ssi(not ssd where he worked and then got disabled) so i went to the court house to try and get child support but they denied me saying they cant make him pay cause hes on ssi. social security office told me the same thing. i went and applied for TANF(temporary assistance for needy families) which is supposedly for families where a parent is missing or mentally ill (her father is both) they told me no i make way way to much and that i wasted my time applying(i work at walmart making about $220 a week. is there any thing out there to help me financially or a way to gett him to pay? please help...thank you

any single moms having arguments with father over financial support for baby? Things seem okay until you ask.. I just want to know if there are other mothers out there with the same dilemma. Things are fine until you ask for some money or some kind of financial assistance? That seems to be our problem lately and always has been since my pregnancy. We both have good jobs but he makes way more than me and has way less responsibilities. I have a 7 yr old from previous relationship in which i do recieve child support. I love my bf very much and we get along great until the topic comes up for some financial assistance. He gets really defensive and says, "i'll help the baby...i'll buy diapers and formula". when i ask for perhaps some money weekly just so that i dont have to keep buggin him for things he keeps saying things like, "i do alot around here and i always help out. I dont know if i will have a job soon...im worried about my retirement". Im lost for words when he says things like this. We do not live together and we both pay our own bills and i also worry about retirment. I also worry about my future too. We are both older and the baby was a big surprise. Now that she is due anyday, i feel that i will be the one sacrificing more than he will be. I dont mind but i still feel that he should financially contribute a little bit and still provide things for the baby and pay for daycare. He says he will pay for baby items and daycare but then complains if i ask for any money from him. He says that im being controlling and unappreciative and that i have a hidden agenda. Im very hurt by all his words. I even tried sitting down with him and discussing our bills and income and coming up with something that is reasonable without going through child support or a lawyer. He gets very upset and doesnt wish to discuss things with me. I dont know what to do. If i go for child support, i lose him completely and will struggle with daycares and babysitters. If i just ask him for things on a weekly basis or as needed, he will help out and contribute. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is anyone having these difficulties? What causes men to feel financially threatened like this? Im going to stick it out for a while and see what happens. Maybe once the baby is born he will change? I need his help with the baby for i have no family or friends nearby to help me with an infant. Plus, I have to return to work early. I dont want to hear things like "why did your open your legs?" or "you should of thought of that before getting pregnant". Mature Advice for a Single Mom and Financial Questions? I'm a single mom to two kids ages 2 and 4. I currently reside with my parents but due to dangerous living situations (dont ask),parenting problems, and other very emotionally painful issues, I need to find my own place. I make around 29,500 a year net income and after a place to stay I will basically be left with no extra spending cash or savings. I'll be going bac to living paycheck to paycheck. Credit repair/financial/career help question? Ok here goes: Had some bad accidents. Am partially disabled. I have had to declare bankruptcy in 06 I had lots of slow/no pays prior in various types of credit. I also had a house begin the forclosure process. I sold it prior to total forclosure, but it shows up on my credit report as "forclosure begun" I have student loan debts:$40k I have a question about credit first: how long until the mortgage comes off of the report? How do I remove it? Due to my disabilities, I have been unable to finish school. I am also a single mom-without any financial help. Bills don't stop even though I am trying to better myself. Meaning, I want to go get some job training but can't because I need to work every moment possible as I don't make anywhere near a living wage. Financial aid doesn't pay enough to live on. I'm a single mom of 7 yr old twins and a 5 yr old I am now disabled and awaiting to go before administrative law judge to determine my ssi disability (21 months now) and have subsequently lost my home, car property-basically everthing but the clothes that the kids and I had and our beds. We sold everything else trying to keep up with the bills. Everyone tells me I am unqualified to receive any government assistance other than food stamps that we have graciously accepted. Collge Help... single moms and others? Hi I am almost 30 and a single mom of 3. I have been working in the fast food industry for the last 5 years and I am ready to get out. I have always wanted to go to nursing school and become an RN and I am seriously thinking about doing it. Why is it so difficult to get help when your a single dad? I've seen single moms with much more support (emotional & financial), recieve assistance and given help . I was told I was'nt a candidate for child care assistance because the programs were specifically designed for moms.

Survey For Single Moms (from a single Mom...) ? Do you have a 'significant other' in your & your child's/children's lives? How's it working out? My son & I have gone through SO much together! WAY more than I could explain here...but suffice to say, I was incredibly skeptical about having an "adult" love again!! I just wanted to go do my job that gave me income, so that I could come home & do what I love! Is there any finacial help available for a single dad raising kids.? We always hear about help for single moms but todays society is growing in numbers of single dad parents and I am one of them. Ex has lived with more men than I can count in the last 5 years, filed bankruptcy and worked cash jobs while living on the support of the men she lives with or can con and has made no attempt to help in the financial part of raising the kids. Single mom, Attending School Full-time?.....How can I work, and not loose all my money in childcare...Help!? In need of some serious advice from single mothers. who have been faced w/ these issues. I have a six year old daughter. I just relocated for a fresh start. I'm a fulltime cosmetology student my school schedule is (Tue - Sat 9:30 to 5:30pm). Currently I pay 200.00 per month for b/f and after a/f care. I knew when I made this decision it was gonna be hard. It just became even harder, I used to have financial support from my ex. Recently he just up and cut me off. Which in the long run is a good thing, he was very abusive to begin with. However i'm forced to work. I have many concerns 1) is in the state where I live they have a waiting list for child care vouchers. 2)I will probably have to (work 6:00 to 11:00, 5 days a week) This is only PT. The cost for day care from (4:00pm to 11:30 pm) is 600.00 even with child support. I will still owe 300.00. Mom's how can I make this work? I have lot's of clerical experience. What type's of jobs can I work that pay higher rate for less hours. Waiting list for daycare vouchers, The school I attend is private, so no help there. I have no family here. (no, help!) I know it can be done. I only have 9 more months to go.

I have a friend that is in a very bad financial bind, she is a single mom that works as a waitress 2 years ago her husband that made very good money left her,and since he has the money and she don't he took her to court and got custody of her daughter. Well she is currently fighting to regain custody but in retaliation he has informed her that he is turning off all the utilities, keep in mind that she is employed as a waitress and don't have the money to move or pay the high utility bills, this is a very big house that her ex was supposed to sell and give her half of what the house sells for, so now he has her over a barrel and she doesn't know what to do, if any one knows of any organizations or any ideas that could help please let me know, I don't want to see her loose everything.
