I know to get your Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) and Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) you have to have a bachelor's first. My question is, when is the best time to try to get one? After you receive your bachelor's? Should I take some graduate courses(MBA) first? When do people normally get theirs? I still have over two years before I even get my bachelor's, but I want to try to move up the ladder as soon as I get mine since I'm already 30 years old. I feel like I'm already behind. How much weight does these certifications hold vs. MBA/some graduate school experience. Thanks for any help.

How do you get government financial assistance? I am in a very bad situation right now. As much as I hate to do it, I need to get some sort of government assistance. Should the Government bail out financial institutions and people who borrowed more than they can handle? Houses are expensive. I have owned 5 of them. It has been a while since I owned one. I now believe renting is better. But when I did own one, my mortgage payment could not be more that 25% of my gross income. Now, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that most people cannot qualify according to this criteria for a simple $150,000 house. And house prices are a lot higher than that in other parts of the country. Therefore "creative financing" somehow has allowed people to buy a house who cannot afford it. And when payments escalate, foreclosure is all too frequent. Now we have a situation where the lenders knew it would not work...and people who borrowed the money should have known that there is no free lunch. NOW .. the Government is taking YOUR money and MY money and GIVING it to these people?? Am I missing something? I got in over my head once to the tune of 6 figures .. but I paid it off with no help. That is what I suggest now .. NO HELP. Sink or swim .. do you agree?
FInancial dept of the federal government scam? I just received a phone call from a company claiming to be from the Financial Dept of the US Federal Government. The number on my cell phone just came up as 1120 on caller id. They were trying to tell me I was receiving a $500 tax credit that they wanted to deposit directly into my account along with a medical card. When I asked for a phone number to call them back to verify the information they gave me the number of 559-709-3564 which seems to be a cellular phone. How do I go about reporting this and finding out who actually called?
