I am a single pregnant mom of a 6 year old boy, i am unemployed and very concerned about how i am going to buy gifts for my son and still pay my mortgage and other household bills, does anyone know where i can get help or does anyone want to help me out? Times are so hard right now, if anyone can help god bless you! There is one program that will help me where i live but i apply every year and it doesn't help much. How can I receive financial help from NJ ? I am a single mother who has a full time job and make just enough money to pay the bills. It is difficult for me to put gas in my car and do little extra's like, birthday parties, Christmas.... I do not qualify for financial assistance, but feel that I should. I am not asking for much just maybe food stamps to help us get by. I am owed a large amount of child support, but can not receive it b/c my sons father is incarcerated. Can someone please help me get my money back from Charma Wells Financial Group? I applied for a loan on-line about a week ago and I was contacted yesterday to let me know that I have been approved for the $5000 at a 7.3% fixed rate, but I needed to send a default/colateral payment in the amount of 898.16 western union due to my past credit history so I did. The money was supposed to be in my account within 2-8 hours, but there is nothing there. I have called and sent them e-mails but no one will call me back. All I had was $900 dollars for my childrens Christmas and now I have nothing. Can someone please tell me how to get my money back? Is the Financial industry proud of the way they Shylock themselves and pray on the weak at Christmas? There are so many short term loans advertised now for the Xmas period, using marketing and advertising tricks along the way that would have made Geobbels very envious; they are praying on those that need the money the most by generating unnecessary need and selling lies to them... Here in England, very respectable loan companies, Tesco for example, are offering 'fantastic deals' in the newspapers that work out at an APR of 22600% !! How can such a well regulated industry be allowed to do this? It is simply a new form of greed and predation and ironically could be considered the very antithesis of the Christmas creed of selfless giving... I bet the finance industry has a very merry Christmas, at what cost for the poor fools that feel they need industrys help
Anyone else stressed about the financial aspects of Christmas? I don't want to sound like a grinch. But I am really tired of going all out for Christmas and not getting much for it except a lot of stress and bills. I go to great lengths to try to find the perfect gifts and then it's a disappointment. How do I back off? Is it ok to set a gift limit even for close family? I don't normally cheap out but this time, I want to be more sensible. This year is different because I work and go to school. My budget is tighter. Does anyone else too have the problem with some people that you don't know if you need to buy a gift for or not? I have overbought and underbought in the past. (brother's girlfriends, friends of the family that I may or may not see, inlaws, etc.) There are recipient expectations. I don't want to disappoint anyone. I want to simplify too. I think I may just buy it all online, save time and hassle. I do have work and school. I also volunteer.
What are some creative but inexpensive homemade gifts for Christmas? Last year my boyfriend and I went on a crazy shopping spree and spent well over $2,000 on gifts for everyone in the family (both his and mine) for Christmas. We've had some financial hardships this years (getting a new apartment and a new job) and we can't afford to go all out this year. We still wanna give a little something to them anyways, but we are thinking things like Christmas cards with a picture or maybe small key chains. Christmas help for a single mom? I have a really good friend who just lost her husband last week. She has a daughter who still very much believes in Santa Claus but unfortuanetly christmas funds went for funeral expenses. What is the point of buying Christmas gifts? Christmas is just around the corner and I have no interest in buying gifts for people. I love to shop, but I have had major financial problems this year. I hate getting into drastic debt or taking myself down to the last dollar each year. It is not only the money issues, but I hate trying to be mind readers with people. I take time and effort trying to find gifts people like and can use, but with some people that is impossible. I just always wondered how often people take things back or use gift receipts. In recent years, I started to give gift cards and people also give me gift cards, but in a way, it is pointless...like everyone is just passing money around. Throughout the years, I also made homemade gifts such as scrapbooks and memorable pictures with nice frames, but I know some members of my family are so cluttered with stuff that they don't have room to even display that type of stuff. I guess my question is: How do I get my family members to not go crazy with xmas shopping? How do I just get everyone to participate in the idea of just buying for the kids and not for all the adults? Is it so wrong just to get together with everyone to eat and be merry? I mentioned this in previous years, but not everyone takes the idea seriously. I don't want to be the only one not giving gifts because I will feel bad if someone gives me a gift and I do not have a gift in return? We are severely struggling financially. I work full time but can't get another job because of my daughter's frequent doctors, therapists, and psychiatrists visits. Also need to be with her at night. first christmas together help? my fiance and i haven't had the best of luck together. nothing ever seems to go right for us, and sometimes we argue and fight about things that shouldn't even matter. i'm 19 and he's 25 and he moved from his home in Florida to be with me in Virginia so i could finish school, leaving his whole life behind and his family. we haven't had the best of luck like I've mentioned before, and we aren't in the best financial state. i don't want this holiday to be miserable for him. we're about to have a baby and I want him to have a christmas like he's used to having. What can I do to get my Christmas spirit back? Ever year, I seem to have less and less Christmas spirit. I buy gifts and generally I am a rather giving person, but I can't stand the financial burden it causes each year. I live paycheck to paycheck and it is so difficult and causes so much stress. Also, I am single by choice. I am okay with it, but I can't stand it around the holidays because family members constantly ask, "Where is your bf?" or "Seeing anyone special?" It gets annoying and makes me want to spend even less time with my friends and family. I generally try to avoid my peers because they all tend to be coupled up. I just wish I can skip to Jan 15, 2007. I forgot to mention that I do volunteer for a cat shelter. Last year, I volunteer to help clean the cat cages on Christmas and Thanksgiving day. Just becasue it is the holidays, the cats still need fresh food, water, and litter. My family failed to understand this. They complained becasue I came so late in the day and I did not come that dressed up because I just come from cleaning at an animal shelter. On the way home, I stopped at a friends house to give her gifts and she was like, so nice of you to dress up for the holidays. I felt like throwing her gifts down the steps. Writing this is making me think that maybe I should surround myself around new kind of people.
Please help! Love and financial issues!? I got engaged to my boyfriend of 6 years on Christmas. Our relationship is great and we both are truly happy. However, we have financial difficulties/disagreements. My fiance goes to a five year school and has one year left. However, he has been unable to finish his last year due to financial difficulties. He didn't read the fine print on a loan he took out and he must pay this money back before he returns to school. I have a full-time job with benefits and will have my masters degree in May. I am financially stable and save my money. He however, has negative balances on his checking and savings. The issue here is that he continues to pay 150 in his mother's rent. My fiance lives with my parents and I rent free! Why is he paying part of his mother's rent. I must explain, however, that his family has struggled financially. However, I feel that he has not money to contribute, but he continues to contribute, leaving him in the negatives and US with nothing! any advice?thanks 1) I am not paying rent and still live with my parents because I just graduated from undergrad in May 2007 and went directly to graduate school. Does anyone have Christmas gift ideas for a 10 year old boy? Anyone have any fun gift ideas for a 10 year old boy that is financially disadvantaged. He is already receiving the necessity gifts (e.g. new coat, gloves, hat, clothes, etc.). I am in debt and need to get out by christmas... But How? Okay thanks for taking time with me for this question. I would love and appreciate all financial help and advise. Okay so I am a 22 year old college kid. I work full time and over time when I get the opportunity. I usually bring in around $1200 - $1300 a month and I am currently around $5000 - $6000 in debt. As I understand that it may not be possible to get out of debt by christmas because I have the usually utility bills and rent to pay plus food and gas. But yet there has got to be something I can do that would at least help me bring in appx $250 more a week. Christmas is rough this year, how can I help my family enjoy it??? Ok, so my parents are split up but they have remained friends. My mom is remarried and he has kids, all older than myself, I'm 21. My dad has had a rough couple years and is in a little bit of a financial bind. Although he opened his own business and things look to sure be better soon. I don't have a lot of money for gifts and I really want to make it special because none of us have money for gifts. I wish I could give them the world but obviously thats a wish. Financial help for training/spaying of a therapeutic dog? My friend just got a beautiful lab puppy Sophie for her beautiful autistic daughter. I am a qualified childcare worker, and would like to return to work due to financial hardship. I? I have a 2 year old daughter who attends daycare 3 days a week and my 7 month old son only attends when i am doing relief work. I would like some advice on weather it is a good idea for me to start back at work full time as we are in desperate need for money for christmas or if i should not worry about christmas and savour the time i have with my children while i can, while they are still growing up. Our problems started when our car broke down and we charged it to the credit card because we didn't have money to fix it on my husbands military income, realizing that I got a job working nights so we could save on childcare because my husband would be home.The first few months I worked it was fine, we saved some money ect.But they reduced my hours so we made adjustments too, no more cell phone,cable,eating out, ect. At christmas we didn't exchange presents and had a family day instead because we were short on money.But now that our car broke down again and our finance charge on the credit is killing us to the extreme we now even placing my dog that I had before the kids were born cuz I cant afford to feed him anymore,my kids are in hysterics over this.I love my dog too, but it hurts more knowing my husband and I are both good people and hardworkers that have just fallen on hard times.We would take out another credit/loan but we can't afford to pay that right now.Any other advice?
I got into arrears with payments over christmas, several defaults have been put? I have a temporary financial problem where a few of my payments are two behind. I am fortunate that I can pay them at the end of January, but all the companies are being quite aggressive and despite making promises of payment they say they are putting defaults against me. How to get my brothers and sisters to help with our elderly mother? How do I get my brothers to help me take financial care of our elderly, feable mother? They are each far away, they call her but not one of them has ever sent her money, gift certifcates, anything. Don't get me wrong, I adore my mother, I don't mind taking care of her, I know that its impossible for them to drive her on her weekly errands & appts.She lives on Social Security and doesn't have enough money to live. She needs things like blankets, medicine, FOOD, clothes. I literally spend hundreds of dollars every month making sure she haswhat she needs. I hint that it would be helpful if they sent "gift certificates" for groceries, but not once has that come to fruition. I rarely talk to them, and it sucks that when I do I have to ask them to help, which they never comply. They dont even send her Christmas gifts. Also, they have no problem asking her for things "when she is done with them" like precious family heirlooms, which she immediately puts in the mail to them!
Vets, Vet Techs, or someone who knows a lot about cats and medicine please help me!? I let may cat in last night. She had this huge hairball matted into her fur, and I cut it out (don't worry, I didn't cut into her skin, I always trim the hairballs out o her fur very carefully). Anyway, underneath the hairball was a big hole in her skin, about a inch around. it had a really bad smell, which I think means it's infected. I don't think it's going to heal by itself, and I'm really worried about my cat. I know alot of you are going to tell me to take it to the vet, but I can't aford it. I'm only 14, and my parents have financial difficulties,especially around Christmas. I have about $40-$45 Canadian, and I'm hoping someone can tell me about some kind of ointmant or something I might b able to get in a local pet shop.I'll have to wait untill tommorow to get anything, so is thee anything I can put on her tonight that I might have around the house.Someone please help me, because I love my cat alot, and don't like seing her hurt like this. I care about her so much bcause she is so sweet. She follows me to the bus stop every day (it's at the head of my driveway), and is relly affectionate. Pregnancy: Finances - Anyone else due near Christmas/New Years struggling? Alot?? My husband and I weren't prepared for pregnancy, but have done our best financially to secure a home for our child. We've done alot for the time we've had. I am due on January 4th and need a number of things to make my "home" feel secure. We also need money to pay for car repair costs so we have at least one reliable form of transportation. Having cleared all of our previous debts I feel like having a baby due near Christmas is really going to dig us a deep dark hole. I don't know how people can expect us to participate in all the family events/christmas's and be financially prepared for a child a week later! To other moms due near Christmas, are you feeling the financial hurt? Do you have any plans? Any advice for me? My only word of advice is "Prioritze" and hopefully nothing more urgent comes into place. I just bought a couch and found out the brakes in my car went bad! Sometimes luck just isn't on your side :(
Alone at Christmas for the first time, any suggestions on coping? This is the first year I will be alone at Christmas. My son will be spending Xmas Eve and Xmas day with his dad, and his dads family. Mostly because of financial situations, and I want this Christmas to be as normal as possible for my son. My new boyfriend has prior obligations with his family, and because of my work schedule I am unable to travel with him. Does anyone have any creative ideas on what to do, to keep yourself occupied? All I can think about are the normal traditions that l did leading up to Christmas and on Christmas day and am getting increasingly more depressed and bitter. adopt a family for christmas 3 children..? My husband and I have recently run into some financial problems and won't be able to buy christmas presents for the kids. We live in delaware. It is too late for any churches or other organizations here to help us believe me I've tried. Christmas crisis? I had a bad year including losing my job by the hand of backstabbers, Sleep Apnea diagnosis, falling asleep behind the wheel, and losing the job that took me six months to find (a paper route). Christmas season - a time to allow employees and school kids a chance to shop and spend money on meaningless trinkets produced in Chinese sweatshops. Single during Christmas time...? What is it about Christmas time that makes other people become so intrusive into the personal lives of others? I am a single, straight, 28 year old male and I have always been single. That's right, I've never had a girlfriend or even experienced me first kiss. Big deal right? Well my parents leave me alone about this, but not my extended family, friends and even co-workers. It's especially weird at work because I never mentioned that I am currently single. Obviously people are really interested in my life for some reason. This conversation inevitably leads to everyone asking me why I still live at home. They just don't get that I have no need to move out and that my family enjoys living together. I live with my parents (rent free) and other adult siblings and everything is working out great. When I need to move out I will. When I need to have a girlfriend I will. Are people simply jealous that I have complete freedom and no financial responsibilities?
Question about Christmas and religion? I have a question for those of you who celebrate Christmas from a religious instead of commercial standpoint. Do you buy gifts? If so, is there a preset spending limit to prevent the celebration from becoming a financial burden? Is there anyone on here who's family does not buy gifts, but celebrates in a different way? Do you read the Christmas story/attend church/read from the Bible on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? It seems to me that the holiday is more of a time to get together with family, exchange gifts, and catch up with each other and has very little to do with Jesus's birthday.

What am I supposed to do at Christmas now? My family is very DYSFUNCTIONAL! I am the middle girl out of 5 and I always have to be the one to fix every problem and bail everyone out of financial situations. How much is a friend obligated to assist another friend that is financial irresponsible with their money? My god sons mother always comes to me when she is in any kind of financial trouble. She and I used to be roommates but we each got our own apartments almost 2 years ago. She has come to me asking for money to assist with her rent. Money to buy groceries to feed her self and my god son when she is out.
