I work for a particular agency which happens to be private of which I will not mention; in fact I have been employed through them for five years now, going on six. Why doesnt he help out? I work 38+ hrs a week, 5 days a week also thinking of taking on 6 days now bcoz of my financial situation and holiday plans. I have a bf that works 24hrs for 2days only. Obviously there is a huge difference there but there is also more. I start work at 3:15pm and finishing time 11:36pm but i usually stay bak and do overtime which can be an hr or more so i dont finish till late. I am "the boss" (small business, 10 employees) and every year the owner and I drive ourselves crazy trying to come up with gifts for our employees. We usually spend between $100-$200, sometimes more (depending on how good the year was). We also give a bonus usually equal to one-two week's pay (again, depending on our financial situation). We don't do any other type of bonus (except we play games at each major holiday and give away prizes and such). We're trying to come up with the gifts for 2006 already - and I can't think of what people would like!!! (We know our employees very well, we consider them family)... so we do try to get personalized gifts. It's just not always easy! Anyone regret asking their family for help? Right now I regret going to my family for help for financial reason before my husband left for the navy. She's been living with her brother in law because they are having financial problems. But she wants to get a hotel for a week to visit. Daughter 2 lives out of the country, hasn't been home for a year, and will be coming alone as her husband is working. She planned on staying in a hotel for a few days around christmas to make room for everyone, and then return and sleep on the couch for the next few days after the brother in law left to go to work. There are no financial problems, just a desire to spend time with everyone. If this was your family - who would stay where? Clearly I'm the second daughter. My problem is: my sister is telling everyone that she Wants to stay in a hotel for the week because there isn't enough room for her, her husband, the baby & all their stuff. But she's doing it to make me feel guilty & look bad for not staying in the hotel myself. I know she's intimidated to have me home because everyone is very excited to see me again. But the way she is acting is making it difficult for me to remember that I really want to spend time with her & my nephew. (Plus, I'm young, & both my husband & mom have an issue with me going to the hotel alone at night - & I'm not flying across the world to stay in a hotel. As one gets older, do they celebrate holidays? I'm personally twenty years old and ever since I was eighteen and out from under my family's roof, no one contacts me (fine by me) and no one I live with celebrates holidays. Is it because as we get older and away from relatives we oust those family-togetherness because we are no longer actually kids and therefore no need for them? Also since I have been seventeen not once received a birthday gift, but always try to treat myself if possible on the day. Roomies don't do anything to separate the holidays from the everydays, oh they will get a pie for say Thanksgiving/Christmas, but that's as far as it goes. One doesn't cook at all and the other is so religious he believes the devil is behind everything aside Jesus' day. Don't judge just answer and as unbiased as possible. To understand better, not that this matters. I was ill-had complications so I was kicked out, not even my family could tolerate taking care of an adult who was a financial burden, I was a costly child.

Does anyone else get depressed during the holidays? I know that it is supposed to be a happy time and what the real purpose is. But how do I get past the facts. Last time I saw my mom 10 yrs ago on Thanksgiving. She was killed in a car wreck one week later. Dad died 3 years ago on Jan 4th. I'm always broke around Christmas so shopping is not a joy. I'll have to spend my whole day cooking Thanksgiving and Christmas. Haven't even been able to afford a turkey this year due to unexpected financial problems. And looking at other people's worse problems does not make me feel better about what I am going through. It just makes me more sad that so many do without while so few splurge. I need help? I have serious financial issues. Recently I started a job which isnt paying so much under advise of family member. I was unemployed and collecting a good amont. Financial woes or commitment phobic?? My boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship. I recently stayed with him for 2 months during my winter semester holiday. Before I arrived, we had talked about getting engaged soon and the option of my being more than welcome to stay with him after my break was over (essentially, starting to live with him and not continuing school.) Then, towards the end of my stay with him, he says that he can't afford to support me until I find a job, and that it'd be the easiest option for us to me to return to school and come back in the summer to find employment. Whenever theres talk about getting engaged or my staying with him now, he always uses financial difficulties as an explanation as to why he can't propose or why it would be a lot easier for us to wait until I graduate to be together. He has a job in finance so it's not like he's struggling to get by on minimum wage. Is he putting off commitment and avoiding having to struggle to be together or is money the only reason? In addition, he doesn't pay for everything. How Important Is It To Have Holidays? I've not had a holiday away anywhere since I was a kid (I'm 27 now) all my breaks from work are spent sitting at home. I suppose its down to financial reasons, the mortgage kills us, I mean theres money left for no treats after thats paid. How important is it to go away somewhere for a holiday? I ask as all my work mates all go away and makes me feel sort of guilty for not going anywhere, We have days outs here or there but never stay over anywhere, I don't know if this is sad or not but i've never been abroad, I've never left the UK, neither has the wife, Infact neither have my parents and there hitting 60 now, its just the way I was brought up I suppose

What is your opinion? I need help now!? My bf is having financial troubles. He's tried so hard to find a new job (he has a job now, but it sucks and he hates it. He feels like he is going no where in life.) He wants to move in with his dad's family in Colorado. Does this happen to you on the holidays? Ok to start off I am 20 years old gonna be 21 soon and my 1st cousins are all like 10-20 years older than me and they have teenage children ranging from 9-16 years in age. My cousins are well off being dentists, financial consultants, and owning their own businesses. When I go to there house I see there children always wearing something new and expensive and getting all of these expensive gifts like coach bags, juicy couture bags and slippers, (they must have about 20 of there own from the coach store each) ugg boots, abercrombie clothes, and american eagle to name a few. I always go there happy with what I got from my family for christmas because I know my family does not have enough money to buy me those kinds of things but, when I see them with all of their name brand stuff it kinda makes me depressed and I almost feel like I wanna spend all the money I have a buy what they have gotten. old job? new job? i have been in my current position for about 5-6mnths now as a junior executive financial controller. The manager and the senior exec financial cont. have both been on holidays. The senior usually carries our all the access to the business bank acct etc...while she was away she decided it suited her better to not give anyone else access which caused a bit of havoc with customers and also an increase in workload upon her return - now she is complaining that she has to do everything, i went out of my way and completed a fair bit of her work whilst away...why do you think she is like this? she is now being quite rude about everything...she's saying she has so much work (implying i did nothing) yet i went out of my way to help and still am and she is just rejecting it being rude....how do i confront her about it without seeming rude etc? am i overreacting or do i just put up with this kind of treatment?

my fault or his? I'm currently involved in a long distance relationship, I'm in Florida and he is Texas. We met through the internet and met back in August, we seen eachother again October. Everything is wonderful when we are together. Unfortunately he lost his job at the end of August right before we were about to meet, he never had any financial issues. So due to the holidays it has become rather difficult to find the job he wants. He had to move back in with his mom until he gets back on his feet. He has always been self confident, always looked out after himself, so he probably feels embarrased about his situation. Should my husband negotiate? Great question for a recruiter!? My husband is going to be laid off tomorrow morning due to his company's financial loss. We will receive a severence package, but are not sure what the details will be (i.e. how much or if insurance benefits will offered). My husband received a verbal offer from another company today, but the salary was $10k less then what he told them he would require to make the move (interviewed before he knew he would be laid offed). My husband was told by the recruiter that the company's budget for this position was $20k less then my husband's requirement, so they did try to meet it by upping the salary $10k. Bottom line, the offer is good, but it's not what my husband was initially looking for money wise. I understand you only have one opportunity to negotiate. My concern is that they will pass on my husband. With the holidays coming up and our current financial obligations, is negotiating the salary worth the risk? How successful are negotiations? The recruiter is a 3rd party. The salary is an 80/20 split (salary+commission), so there isn't a way to request an additional bonus to up the bottom dollar. The cash bonus could be an idea. We can't afford to go more then a month with out a job.

Does anyone else have a complete jerk for a boss? If so how do you cope? My ass of a boss likes to micromanage everything that I do. I handled the companies cell phones (there are over 50 lines) but since this is not related to accounting my boss said to ignore the calls. Yesterday I was told to ignore everything that was phone related because it was a waste of time. Two sales people had major problems and I could not help. Today when I got in I was yelled at by the president since I ignored the sales people. I was then told that since I was incapable of handling the phones, I would be removed from the account. I then get up to my office and my jerk of a boss was sitting here with a look like the cat just ate a bird.....he asked what was wrong....I have yet to answer him. I was also told that the office was leaving today at 3:00 for the holiday, but since he promised a financial statement, I needed to stay and concentrate only on this, I am being required to stay after to make this aXX look better...... To top this off, no one has been told of this change and I am still getting all of the phone calls and people who are stopping by. If someone comes in to my office, the idiot is at the door asking what they need and why they are here... I am not allowed to say anything. Someone came up to help remove the cell phone items that I had, and he stood and watched to make sure that every item was removed. Then he asked me why I let them in here to interrupt me. It wasn't my choice- his boss the president had the items removed. I was then asked why I was upset and what it would take to make me happier? The phones were the only thing that he couldn't managed; since he knows nothing about them. I reported directly to the president for this. My idiot boss always said that he spoke with the pres, but he never did. This only made me look like I was not willing to cooperate and that I refused to work with others, while in the background it was not the case. I went down to talk with the president yesterday and my boss followed me. He does that when I am away from my desk. I kid you not; others have noticed this too. When I met with the phone rep, he made it a point to interrupt three times and then stated that since we had been going over the account for more than an hour and half, we must be shooting the breeze....He then asked how much long I would be. The rep left and we had to finish up the remaining items via the internet. He also watches to see when I am on the phone, yesterday while I was trying to work with a sales person, he stood in my door and told me that I could reslove my family issues at home since there was work to be done. I have been looking, nothing has come up yet.

Will I be forced to pay maintenance even when we have shared care ? ex left me and our son 4 yrs ago, signing over child benefit etc. over past couple of years due to job changes she has built up number of overnights to 4 due to me being a bit naive and thinking this was best for the child. Given her extra time ,again naively, I signed the child benefit back over to help her out and as soon as she had confirmation of this she has contacted the csa who are now demanding payment . I have statements signed from both parties through solicitors that care is shared and no further financial connections will be made. I have always paid childs clubs etc , holidays, clothes and never taken a penny from her even when I was out of work. But it seems that as she has 4 overnights that I have to pay her money. 10 Points best answer...How should I handle this? My husband has decided to "cut off" our family because they didn't help us a couple of years ago when we were having severe financial problems. I've respected his decision, but it has been two years! The holidays will be here soon and I want to go back to the way things were, but he doesn't want anything to do with anyone. I just read a news article with "holiday 2007"...?? I read a news article regarding some sort of financial lookout for businesses, and it mentioned something along the lines of "...getting things done before holiday 2007". What is "holiday 2007"? Is that supposed to mean Christmas? Did I miss something? Is that how they refer to it now?? But aren't there HOLIDAYS all through the year? Why should "holiday 2007" mean Q4??? Tenants rights in Dayton, Ohio? I moved into a new apt. with the same landlord at the end of Aug. when my old lease was up. I have the old lease, the new lease, and a receipt that states my rent is paid through November. Now, 7 weeks later, he is trying to say that I owe for damages to the old place and that my deposit from that place, which is twice the amount of rent, was spent towards repairs. He now claims I owe him for October and November here. I know there were no damages, but I also thought he had 30 days to either return the deposit, or in this case apply it towards the new place which my new lease and receipt states that he did, or advise me in writing that the money was spent towards repairs. I think a big part of this is the fact that he knows I'm a student relying on financial aid, and the fact that the holidays are here and I won't want a drawn out fight. Can he come at me almost two months later and do this?
