How can I get free student financial aid? How can I get free student financial aid? I see FAFSA is used mainly but is that free or is that the same as getting a loan I have to pay back? Is there a way to get it free?
Is financial aid (FAFSA) free money? or do you have to pay it back? I applied for FAFSA and since my parents no longer support me it said I was eligiable to recieve money. I'm in the middle of doing paperwork with my school so I haven't gotten anything yet...but I was wondering if the money I get is free or if I have to pay it back? Also, if anyone's recieved financial aid...do they give you one lump sum? and can you spend it on whatever you want or do you have to show them proof? Thanks!
Can I cancel my financial aid and student loan before i start classes? im goin to college here in new york and i made dumb mistake,i was confused i did not know what i wanted to do so i just applied to a college for theheck of it.My sister is in college and she gets free financial aid so that means that i should at least get free financial aid even if i dont like the college I chose.
Free Financial aid Money? I have a Upromise account setup for my 3 sons. They offer to contribute 1% of purchases towards college funds. They do this by working with merchants who agree to the rebate program. Person who signs up pays nothing towards the program. There is an option to expand the program so family and friends can help. They would be sent a email link and asked to join Upromise and list their credit card numbers, grocery shopping card numbers etc. and they would also count their purchases towards the money earned toward's my son's college funds. Is this appropriate way to raise money for college by soliciting relatives? How about complete strangers? This is the link if you want to check it out. :-) http://www.upromise.com/displayServlet?pl=xDjfBGKMLz8$&ax=ff_inviteO&cm_ven=ff&cm_cat=invite&cm_ite=join Correction: 1% or more. Many merchants offer higher amount.
I need free financial aided scholarship? i have graduated in computer science and IT with one and half year work experience. i need to get free financail aided scholarsip for my masters program in my field.
isnt applying for financial aid through fafsa supposed to be free? you have to pay 79.99 to submit your application to fafsa?! thats ridiculous i thought this was free!? HOW ARE PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO MONEY SUPPOSED TO BE SUCH AN OUTRAGEOUS FEE?! THE WHOLE REASON THEYRE APPLYING IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO MONEY TO BEGIN WITH!!!!!!!!!!!1
How can i get financial aid when i dont pay taxes read below? i went to the fafsa(free application for free student aid) website and it says that to qualify for aid i need tax forms and etc but since i live with my parents and i am 22 years old and dont have to pay taxes yet but i have social security income of 870.00$ for my disability. the site is here at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov
How can I become a teacher without financial aid or funding for the schooling? I have already been to college for 3 years but due to having children and leaving school I defaulted on school loans and I want to go back to school but cannot get financial aid due to the default. I know I can pay for 1 year to show good intention on the loans and get out of default but I want to go to school now. Are there any free teaching programs to get me started. I heard of a Master's Program that they offer for a trade to work in a school. Do they have something like that to get statred?
What should I do with my financial aid student loan refund check? What should I spend it on? It will be after school starts, & I will already have all my books & everything. I think I might get about $8,000 or less back, & I really need the money, but I don't know what to use it for. I would like to buy a used car for transportation to & from school, but someone told me I couldn't use it for that. The bus transportation system SUCKS here in Denton, TX! It's very ridiculous. It takes me 2 1/2 hrs. to get some place by bus that takes 5-10 minutes by car. Or do you think it would be easier if I take a cab every day? I estimated that would be like $320/month. I don't know...but the bus would be free, but it's dangerous to be taking the bus during dusk before 6 PM in order to get to a required 8 AM class. But @ the same time, you can't rely on a taxi to be there when you want it to. So I guess I'm better off with a car. Financial Aid doesn't ask you what you did with your money anyway. What else should I do with any leftover money?
How do you get financial aid for on-line colleges? I am thinking about switching to an online college for my(senior year) BS degree in Public Health Administration. I am an older adult student with alot of responsibilities. So,traditional college hasn't worked well for me. I am just afraid of losing my finanical aid and loans.I like the fact that I can do the courses on my own free time using my computer.and no driving 30miles one way for classes that last2-3 hours 3 times per week.
Helicopter student with financial aid problems? I was wondering if anyone knew of a flight school that would train you as a pilot for free as long as you maybe signed a contract to work with them upon completion of the program? I'm training to be a helicopter pilot, and love flying, but due to problems with my student loan company, I'm faced with having to quit. I don't want to!! But don't know what else I can really do, so I'm hoping that there is another option somewhere. I'll go anywhere, heck I already moved from Buffalo, NY to Van Nuys, CA in order to pursue this. I have a very supportive husband and family, that want to help me, but none of us is in a financial situation to just pay for 80,000.00 of flight training and due to all this loan crap(the loan company has been anything BUT understanding and helpful), I'd rather not have to go through this loan business again. Any suggestions? Please help!
I have a question about reapplying for financial aid? I have gotten financial aid twice. The first time I was pregnant and had problems with the birth and was taken out of school. Last semester I ended up dropping out like a dummy. I want to go back now because my oldest son is starting school which will give me more free time and I think I will be able to handle it now. I was wondering if anybody knows if I am able to apply again or should I just forget the whole idea and try to save the money to pay for it myself (which is going to take forever b/c I am a mommy of three).

college financial aid.....help please? i am currently under my guardians taxes and because of that financial aid has helped me a lot, i basically am having a free ride to my university. but recently ive been havin problems with my guardian and she treatened me to take me out of her dependents so i will have to pay for college myself. she basically doesnt let me go out with friends or be with my significant other (she's very old school mexican strict). so when i tried doing those things she started treatining me with that. so i was wondering if wa she says is true, that she can take me off and ill be screwed with payin for college.?, and if thats true, if i happen to move out to my brother's and put myself down as an indipendent, will financial aid give me any help?, will it be the same (as in about a free ride to college still)? or wa are the cons and pros of filling as indipenddent and not as the dependent please give an answer if you have messed with the FASFA program, thank u well shes my guardian due to the fact that my father abandoned us and my mother died when i was 13, i am now going to b 19, my aunt took me in
Are any of you interested in applying for financial aid? Please avoid the website: www.fafsa.com. The correct free website is www.fafsa.ed.gov -----> You do not pay for applying for Financial Aid through the Dept of Education's free application using either the paper application or the online site.
Should I take job as a financial aid advisor or higher paying job? Recently I interviewed for a position as a financial aid advisor. The postition pays $32,000-35,000 (i live in NJ)...but I have recently been offered an office manager position for $40,000 The financial aid position offers free schooling for myself, children, & spouse...(I am single and no children though) and I have a b.s in finance with loan payments kicking in soon as well...I own a home and have alot of debt....I am worried about taking a low paying position for free school perk, but feel with more education maybe I would be able to get a better job later on...the office manager job is salaried and requires long hours!! There are alot of different avenues I could persue with continuing my education (masters, etc.)
Financial aid related questions... anyone? Ok, long story short, I applied for both federal and state financial aid. And my community college financial office said that I'm not eligible for federal grants so I thought I probably wouldn't be eligible for state aid either... and I set up a monthly payment option ($500 of four payments) and I'm done paying half of them now but NOW (important part) the state award letter said that I can have $1,500 (free grants money) for the current semester. So if the half of the amount is already paid out of my own pocket, can I just keep $1,500 ? Or only half of it will be used to pay the remaining balance of the tuition? Can someone please let me know? I'm a little upset and pissed that school waited this long to tell me that... Any advice will be valued! Thanks!
Financial Aid in MASS? I live on my own, my father and I do not speak any longer, he won’t give out his W2 for financial aid purpose(my mother does not work) In Mass I know you have to be 24yrs old to be considered “independent” from your parents money tie. I am only 20; I am working on my Assoc. I will hopefully be done next year. After wards I do plan on getting my bachelors, but school is too expensive, and I do not want to wait till I’m 24 to get f financial aid and be freed from my dads taxes. What can I do legally to get financial aid on my own?
Anyone frustrated with financial aid/student loans? I am going to graduate school and I'm on financial aid - I get student loans. No, I'm not poor, but I don't have a spare 20K for a year of university...kind of like most people. I'm just really frustrated with it right now. I already have a job on campus to supplement my income and my parents are helping me as well. I don't live an extravagant lifestyle or have expensive hobbies or even go on vacations. But after tuition, university fees and books, I get a little under 8K to live on all year long. That's below the poverty line. And I'm not a single parent or a recovering addict, so I don't qualify for all the free stuff they get for going back to school. It just doesn't seem fair. Maybe I'm missing something because it seems like the system is set up to reward and perpetuate people who aren't responsible. Plus the whole financial aid/student loan situation after graduation seems like indentured servitude. I'm just really frustrated. Anybody else go through this? How did you handle it I have a roommate who is also a student. You're right - it cuts costs a lot, but I'm still scraping by and having to ask my parents for help sometimes. It isn't fair how the middle class are left out of these programs. Why can't they be merit-based or have some basis other than "Oh gee, you're an ex-homeless crackhead with three kids. Since you're breathing and all, please have free housing, free food, free clothes, free health care, and a free college education. Get a job if you feel like it, or don't - because of your "disability" - we'll still pay your way for everything you need." Why do those kinds of people get everything served to them on a silver platter, and I, as a middle-class upstanding citizen, get punished for not being a screw-up? It really ticks me off.
Does the GI Bill reduce the amount of FAFSA aid you will get? I was looking at the Free Application for Financial Student Aid, and it asked how money the military is giving you to go to college. So does that mean you get less need-based aid from the government/universities if the military helps you go to school?
financial aid for college? what does it mean if the average freshman total need-based gift aid: $26,639? does it mean that you have to pay the debt later or is it just free? basically, what im asking is if this financial aid is a loan
Financial Aid for Culinary School.....???? I would like to know if there is any way to get any financial aid if I am going to attend a culinary school.???? I would also like to know if I could get any free education from the military towards culinary school and not college.????
Help me with understanding financial aid! Please? I'm going to a private college in California. I live in Alabama, i have one brother, parent's are married, and my mother is currently pregnant and will be delivering in June. My parent's combined income is 92,000 dollars and I worked this year and made 10,000 dollars. The college in California has a cost of 46,000 a year. (St. Mary's college of California) I got the scholars at entrance scholarship which is 12,000 dollars a year... I'm so worried that I won't be able to finance this. I don't think they will take into consideration that my mom will be having a child this year and I don't think I'll get any free money( grants, scholarships) my EFC is 18,000 dollars... I really need to get down to my EFC at least, hopefully more. What are my odds of getting this much financial aid.. If I can get down to 18,000 a year I can take out loans and my parents will pay some. I really need some help. Do you think I can call after I get my fafsa and explain my moms condition and get more aid? I have 5 schools that I have sent my fafsa to... St. Mary's College of California, Santa Clara University, Dominican University of California, University of La Verne, and Spring Hill College. All of those except the last are in California. I can't stay in Alabama... it's just not happening. I absolutly hate it, I can't survive in Alabama any longer, I've waited 18 years to get out and finally I have a chance. I'm okay with going into 30,000 dollars of debt, I'm okay with working 25 hours a week during college and I'm okay with living off of air and water as long as I am out of Alabama and in California with the most of my family. I just need to get my enough money to bring me to my EFC of 18,000 dollars... my parents will help me by paying about 24,000 for all four years and taking out about 10,000 in loans... of course I could maybe get them to higher those numbers a bit. And I'm okay with going into 30,000 debt... that's like a new car which is great for 4 years of college Santa Clara is basically out of the picture as they have only given me 4,500 a year in scholarships and their cost is 50,000 a year... on the other hand Dominican University is a bit cheaper and offerend me 15,000 but I don't like that school as much as St. Mary's. I've never visited the University of La Verne but they offered me 14,000 and their cost is about 40,000 a year but they are located in greater L.A. and I have no family there which would be harder on me. I have family that lives only a few hours away from the Bay area where the other 3 Californian colleges are at. I really don't know what to do. I just wanna break down and cry cause I've sacraficed so much for this over 4 years of highschool and now I'm stuck cause my parents make to much and aren't ablt to afford 18,000 a year. I need help and I don't wanna go into SOOOO much debt but I will do that before I stay here in this shit hole Alabama
I have a question about financial aid.? I was wondering what it is exactly, I heard from some people that the college would pay for all my fees when I study, so basically its like going to college for free. Others told me its more like a loan but a little better, they would pay for my college but eventually I would have to pay them back. So can anybody make it clear to me? Also do i need some proof to show them if I wanna apply for it, because my income is good but its not very good, but its good enough to pay for my college if i needed to, but some of my friends told me its better if I take it so that I can take advantage of it. So can I get clear answers to everything about financial aid, because I don't know anything about it, I always thought it was a loan but some people say different things.

What kind of financial aid is available to a working mother that has a BA already???? I just found out that I will not be elegible for Pell Grants Student loans. Most of the scholarships that are out there do not kick in until I have reached my second year in the program that I have chosen. I am starting to lose hope right now. Without financial aid or scholarships, I will not be able to continue my education. I have been looking for work on either a part-time or night option, but what I have found is that the prospective employers are not flexible when it comes to school, or they have indicated that I am too overqualified. I have also been to those web sites locate free scholarships- that appears to have been a waste; all I keep getting is advertisments for colleges and programs that I am not interested in. I cannot see this sites comming through with credible funding- just junk mail. Most of the scholarships in my area of study are for minorities and underrepresented groups of students. Single moms- NO! Any positive answers are appreicated. Thanks.
European Financial Aid? I saw Sicko and remember something about people who moved to one of the European countries to recieve free healthcare and help with finding a job and a place to live. Does anyone know how accurate this actually is? If so, how long do you have to be a citizen of the nation for?
financial aid for my daughter ( fafsa)? I have a daughter that will be a junior next year at a Mass state school. Here's the situation:She is 20 years old and is pretty much on her own, doesn't live with her mother (Me) or her father that are separated. Last year she filled out the fafsa and used our(her mom's and stepfather's) tax returns and because of our income got no free money at all. We don't support her and don't have any money to give toward school. Is she better off using just my tax return which shows very little income, using her father's address and his return(he makes less money than my husband), or is there some status that she can use where she is considered an independent? We are by no means able to pay her tuition as she is one of four children of college age. Also, Which is the best company to use for loans? Banks,Sallie Mae,Mefa etc?
financial aid for married woman wanting to go back to college??? I live in Louisiana and am looking to go back to college, maybe even online. Does anyone know of any grants or "free" money to help fund it? Or any ideas? does anyone know income requirements for these pell grants? an estimation would be great if no one knows exactly! Like even if you jsut give a general amount that you make and were able to get one with! Thanks!
Financial Aid-Social Security? Ok is this true...You can get into college for free or close to free if your dad has social security I have been gettin checks from him for social security he told me this is true
Financial Aid Policy Change? Hi. I'm writing an essay on how the government should fund higher education because obtaining a bacholar's degree is basiclly a necessity in the 21st century. However, I cannot seem to find any good policies to base it off of. Is there any country out there that provides free higher education to their people? and also, what actions should us as americans take? write to congress?
About financial aid in college? I am gonna graduate, and I am just wondering that if the student loans are interest free, some people say yes and some say no, i am so confused.

Financial Aid Question? I qualify for a pell grant and tap in New York state, which is neat because my mom only makes 12k a year. I'm already in college and have been since the end of college. I'm just wondering if I'm allowed to spend the remainder of money ( after I buy all my school stuff) on whatever I want. My mother lets me live with her for free and of course if she needed money I'd spot her, but is their rules for this. Thank you everyone
