If someone claims me as a dependent on their taxes, can this affect my student financial aid?
I'm divorced and had very little income in 2005. My ex would like to claim me as a dependent on his taxes. Would that effect the amount and kind of aid I can receive in student financial aid?

- yes, unless you file under emancipation. If you get emancipated then it wont hurt your chances of getting all the financial aid you need.
- YES BECAUSE THEY WILL COUNT HIS INCOME AS WELL AS YOURS
- Depending on the type of school and how much they are willing to help. But if you can prevent it I would not let him.
