For those in college, how much is it costing you per year to go to school?

How much is tuition, room and board, books and supplies, allowances for entertainment on weekends and holidays. What %'s is financial aid, work-derived income, personal savings or parent's contribution, and personal loans? Also do you have your own car and do you need it to go to school? If that is a separate expense, please include it? Anyone sharing by answering is helping others in similar situations and anyone else thinking ahead about how to pay for college. You are providing the factual info they need straight from those in college having to cope with the costs of an undergrad degree. Thanks.

  1. My tuition will run about $3000 a year including books and classes, fees etc. I own my home so I can't count room and board. I get no financial aid, it is all paid with my paychecks.
  2. It's different for everyone. Some people have to pay through the nose, some not so much. I was on partial scholarship at the beginning of college, and now I'm actually getting paid to continue.
  3. I go to a community college and live at home so i pay about $1700 for a year of fulltime classes and books would be like $800 give or take a hundred for a year and i share my car with my parents so they pay for it
  4. ive got a full tuition and fees scholarship, so i only have to pay $6400 per year for housing. we just had an honors night at my high school, and a lot of people in my class got at least some form of financial aid. my parents invested money when i was born to help pay for college, and thats at $35,000. i want to go to law school after i get my undergrad degree, so i will hopefully be working somewhere. as for the car, it really depends on what college you go to. for bigger schools, cars arent really practical, since youd have to park a ways away. it depends on how far you are from home, how much independence you want, and how much you want to go home. usually, you have to buy a parking tag for usually under $200 per year, plus any of the usual car expenses such as gas, insurance, etc.
