Returning college student needs financial aid help!!?

I'm a 25 year old college student with a bachelors degree and just returned to school to pursue my dream of becoming a fashion designer. I'm attending a private design school that will cost around $30,000 for the two year program. I was told by the financial aid office that I do not qualify for grants since I already have a degree, so my only options are federal loans (Sallie Mae) and loans through private lenders. What other options do I have without ending up with an overwhelming amount of debt? I'm not able to work due to the demands of the program and I already have a fair amount of consumer debt plus living expenses. I will do anything to be able to pursue my passion, but I'm scared I won't be able to afford it. I graduated with a 3.9 college GPA and I have a ton of accolades and honors. I just need to pay for school! Help!!!

  1. Sounds like you are a highly qualified candidate. You should check out merit based scholarships offerred by the industry or some of the big corporate players. Another possibility is to get a job at one of the fashion design houses and have them pay for your further education through a tuition reimbursement program. Good Luck!
