I am currently a full-time student in a New York College work a Part-Time job. I was wondering what type of aid I am eligible for. I am going to apply for financial aid at school. But I was wondering if there is anything else. I live with my parents, and am 21 years old. I make about 10/hr and work about 25 hours a week I pay $200 and $255 each month for car insurance and car payment...so $455 each month not including school...can i get any other government help!???

  1. A specific answer is impossible. There are three types of aid. Student loans, which anybody can apply for. Grants, which do not have to be repaid. And Scholarships, which are available by merit, and to deserving people of lower income. These exist in all types of sizes and varities. Many of these are very very specific like scholarships for persons of color who opt for a Chemistry Major and who have maintained a high grade average. Capisce? Best bet: Apply for scholarships and grants FIRST, then move on to Student Loans. Which will you get? Who can say? Or you could always rob a bank, and become a graduate of our penal system! :)
  2. a grant so everything is paid for and nothing will have to paid back
  3. if u fill out the financial aid whenever u enter in all the information from your parents yearly income and so forth at the end they will tell u if u qualify for any additional grants
