How do you get government financial assistance?
I am in a very bad situation right now. As much as I hate to do it, I need to get some sort of government assistance. I just need to know where to go and How to get started getting some help. I hate programs like welfare, food stamps and things like that, but I am in such a bad situation, that I need a little help just for a while. I have a terrable job that does not pay very much. I can't live off it. I pay a lot for rent and gas etc. But yesterday I had to empty out my whole bank account and make a choice. I could pay for Rent, food, insurance or pay some other misc. bills. No mater what choice I made, it would not have been good. I chose to pay rent. I am trying to get a better job, but that is hard and takes time. Can I get govt. assistance to pay my rent? I am a single male, with no kids. I also have nothing of value left to sell. I have sold every thing I can already.

- You probably cant get welfare as i believe you have to have kids to get that. You might be able to get food stamps. You can get on section 8 with the housing athority in your town, but it could take a long time to get it. I got it once when i lived in CA and I got it almost instantly at that time. Then 10 years later i tried to get on it when i lived in las vegas and there was a 2 year waiting list to get on to another waiting list which would've taken 4 years total to get to. I said..."What good is that? I will be out of my predicament in 4 years!" So just check with the housing authority and ask about how you get section 8 and they will explain everything to you (in a most unfriendly manner)
