How do i explain to my daughters they wont be comming home for the holidays?
MY DAUGHTERS AGES 12 AND 14 ARE NOT GONNA BE ABLE TO COME HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS BECAUSE OF FINANCIAL REASONS, THEY WAS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO BEING HERE BUT I NOR THEIR MOTHER CAN AFFORD IT. THEY LIVE IN A SCHOOL CALLED MOOSEHEART IN IL. IT IS A GREAT PLACE BUT WE REALLY MISS THEM DEARLY, THEIR MOTHER HAS NOT SEEN THEM IN 2 YEARS I SAW THEM IN JULY OF THIS YEAR, WHAT CAN I DO OR SAY TO HELP THEM BETTER UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION?

- I think they're old enough to understand the situation if you explain it to them and not treat them like little kids. Maybe help them/suggest they make plans over the holidays. Assure them that it's nothing they did, purely financial, and that you miss them and will make arrangements to see them ASAP!
- Financial reasons? Don't you just hate money? 12 and 14 years old is a difficult age but they should also understand a little too. tell them that you will make it up to them. that Christmas will come again when you can all be together. and that it will be the best Christmas ever! desn't matter if Christmas in a April or june....you will have christma then. they will be upset....but it will work. All the best and good luck to you all!
- How did you tell them last year.? Why are they in a Orphanage type school in the first place.. And they do have facilities for parents, Why don't you live there?
- Send them a box of all sorts of cool goodies... it doesn't have to be expensive stuff, just thoughtful. Tins of homemade cookies, chocolates, t-shirts, sweaters, socks. Enclose a personal letter to each girl... and maybe send them a little money.
- Obviously, you are financially able for them to be in a boarding school. Why can't you afford for them to come home for Christmas? Write them off and let them be adopted by a real family, one that lives together.
