I need help?

I have serious financial issues. Recently I started a job which isnt paying so much under advise of family member. I was unemployed and collecting a good amont. Under a relative's advise, I took a job for straight commission which I didnt want to take. I'm making very little money from it. In Novembember, I sent out a payment to my car insurance which apparently they did not receive. Now they want double due in a week and then an additional third payment due two weeks later. I'm 20 short of first payment now. I also need to pay health insurance (I'm currently seeing a psychologist and take medication for bipolar) and rent and dont have enough money. Help? P.S. happy holidays

  1. Maybe you should go to the family member and ask for help, as it was their idea to get you into this job. You may also consider canceling the insurance and not use the car until you can get your financial act together. Check in with the social services in your area and get some help.
  2. What happened to the first payment? Did you send a check or a money order? The first thing I would do is try to track down that first payment. If it's out of your checking account, have the bank look specifically for that check to see if it has gone through. A teller can probably do this for you if you go to the bank on a slow day or first thing in the morning ... don't hit the counter during the lunch hour rush. If you sent a money order, take your receipt to where you bought it from and ask them to trace it. I would do this immediately. Since you were receiving unemployment and this job that you have now pays less than unemployment, is there anyway that you can quit and continue collecting from your previous claim? I would contact my local unemployment office and inquire about that. Explain what you have told here ... that this current job is paying less than you were making from your previous job and even your unemployment, and you're unable to pay for your needed health insurance and rent. I believe they can only discontinue your unemployment benefits if you are making as much or more than you were at your previous job, meaning this job would have to be comparable to your previous job. I've taken a lot of bad advice from relatives as well. Now that I'm older, I've found that in a lot of cases, I have to trust my gut. It seems that you already knew that this job wasn't for you, but you were "bullied", basically, into taking it for one reason or another. This is your life. You have to live with your decisions ... don't allow someone else to make your decisions for you. I believe most of the time ... as long as we're not alcoholics or drug addicts ... we, ourselves, know what's best for us.
