Financial aid?
Im starting college in the fall, and i have a efc of 0 which from what i hear is good. And i want to take out one student loan to pay off some personal bills and get a computer for college and my financial aid advisior said if will effect my efc score... i dont understand why it would effect the efc, and im only taking out a small loan. Im worried because if i get a loan, i figure it will terminate my financial aid... is this true?

- The way I understand it, the money is looked at as an asset. If you can get money, you need to be using it for school. I understand the computer is for school. Does the school have a plan you can buy a computer through the school? Make sure you ask.

- I am not sure how financial aid determines what you get,but I also have an EFC of 0. When I first started college I went to an inexpensive school so I had a lot of money left over after tuition and books from financial aid. You should wait until school starts to see how much you will get, because you might have enough left over to get a computer without getting a loan.
