Will Federal Financial Aid pay for rent/utilities?
I'm hoping to attend a college out of state that does not offer on campus housing so I plan to rent an apartment. Will federal financial aid pay for rent and utilities?

- I am attending college and living off campus. They do not pay for rent or utilities. They only pay if you live on campus.
- It depends on the source and if there are conditions attached. generally ..if it is a loan or a grant you can buy what you want. Scholarships on the other hand usually come with conditions on what they are for and generally go directly to the institute of higher learning. on a side not grants are free money and you can get as many as you qualify for so get writing.
- It might. Good Luck!!!
- financial aid (pells and loans) pay for anything related to school and living cost.. If u get a scholarship, it will tell u what u can use it for.. U will NOT get enough extra aid for pay for the difference in out of state tuition.. If u are a freshman, depending on ur EFC and whether u are dependent or ind., if u get a FULL loan (at indep level), the most u will possibly get with pell is $10,000 if that much..
- Rent and utilities are included in the schools cost of attendance so you are eligible to take out financial aid for these items but it usually will not cover the full amount so start looking for some roommates. Also even if you can have financial aid for that amount there is no guarentee that you will have the funds to reach that amount as everything has a cap amount and if you don't qualify for everything you won't have the funds.
