Can my mom cosign my student loans if she filed for bankruptcy?
I'm not sure if it was last year or the year before last, but one of them my mom filed for bankruptcy and I was wanting to know if she could still cosign my student loans. I'm going with Chase if that helps. Just FYI, no try FAFSA, or get grants, or Federal loans, or see your financial aid office. I've already done all of that. Privet loans are my last option. Ty.

- Your mom can cosign if the bank allows it. They will check her credit and determine if they will accept her as a cosigner. If the bankruptcy was as recent as a year or two ago it may be tough. Good luck.
- Well, you'll need to fill out the FAFSA no matter what if you want financial aid. Your mom can co-sign but may get denied. The good news is that if she does then you qualify for more financial aid on your own. This is with the Parent PLUS loan. Private loans work differently. If you can get the Parent PLUS and/or Stafford those have better benefits than any private loan. The Stafford doesn't look at income or credit.
- The answer to your question is no.
- She can try, but they will likely deny her.
- You can go to http://www.student-loans-choices.com or http://www.estudentloans.biz it's about student loans information. Good luck
