What is Sallie Mae open net?

I'm a new student. I recently applied for a loan at the financial aid office, and I choosed Citibank. The bank already sent me a letter stating that I was approved for a loan. They even showed a disbursement schduele. But now I received a letter from Sallie Mae open net, stating that I need to secure my loan, and sign a promissory note online. If I was already approved, why would I have to sign that now? When I went to the website, it seemed like I would be applying for a loan through them. What do you think is going on? Is this a scam?

  1. Just to cover yourself call them on the phone Dont put any information online until you have spoken to them ...
  2. I am not familiar will current student loans, but this sounds fishy to me. When I was in school I signed a PAPER promissory note in the school financial aid office. I advise you to take the letter to the financial aid office at your school. If it is legitimate, they will know. If it is a scam, they can help report it.
