financial aid?

Hello I currently go to school and live with my parents. heres my situation. I want to get financial aid because i pay for my schooling on my own but i cant get financial aid because i live with my parents. I plan on moving out before the Fall semester and would like financial aid then. How do i get financial aid when i will be still living with my parents when i fill out the forms for F.A. I will probably be moving out beginning of Aug. Thanks

  1. You need to claim yourself as independant...meaning your parents can not claim you on their income tax. I lived at home and that is how I got around it.
  2. Even if you live on your own, if your not 25 years old, married or have a child, they will still take your parents income to decide to give it to you. I moved out of my house when I was 18 when I was 21 I did the whole aid thing, and they wanted all my parents info and they did not give me any. I even claimed myself as a Independent on all of my tax forms.
  3. In order for you to get financial aid on your own, your parents can not have claimed you as a dependent on their taxes. You need to be independent. Check out this site for help: http://www.schools2colleges.com/financial-aid.php
