Financial Aid Question? Federal Pell Grant?
Okay here is the deal. I work at a sheriff's office in Texas and I dont make that much money. I probably make about $21,000 and thats pushing it. I applyed for financial aid. I did it correct as far as I know. I just got a letter in the mail telling me from the school I applied for that I didn't quailfy for Federal Pell Grant but I might qualify for other types of grants. Well my question is....Are they bascially trying to tell me I make to much money to qualify for Pell Grant? I am 25, single and no kids. Just F.Y.I. Need some help here!! Thanks!

- they are not telling you that you make too much money. they are saying for a houshold of one and one person going to school you can afford to pay higher percentage of your education compare to a family with more people in the hosehold. your best bet will be loans, and probably need based loans
- To qualify for the Pell Grant as a single person with no dependents you need to make very very little money, to the point you are on state aid almost. Some errors you might have made, if you want to look over the FASFA would be if you pay toward a 401K some people put the entire value of that on their instead of just what was paid for the year so look at what you have put down for worksheets A and B if this amount is a large number go to your financial aid office and let them know you think you filled out your form incorrectly and would like some help. If you got a letter stating you might qualify for other grants that is probably from the federal government showing your FAFSA was completed and not from your school, the school will usually tell you what you do qualify for and not what you might.
