Can my wife apply financial aid for me?
Can my wife apply financial aid for me? I will be the one who will go to school but I will pay the loan through my wife's name is that possible?

- Not possible. The student loan has to be in the students name unless you are a child that is a dependent of your parents.
- No Not possible.
- Go to fafsa.gov. If your credit is crappy and that's the reason that you want to take the loan out in your wife's name, then you don't have to worry about that if you apply for federal financial aid. They don't even look at your credit score. Being an American citizen, you automatically have access to federal aid as long as you meet the qualifications, which most people do, as long as they make below a certain amount. As far as the actual applying, though, your wife can certainly fill out the paperwork for you. You won't have to start paying the loans back until after the nine month grace period is over, after your enrollment status falls below half-time.
- She could be the one to serve as a co-signer for you. Being that you are married, I don't see them choosing to ignore your credit though. At some point, it would be considered.
