Principles of College Financial Aid?

Are scholarships and grants the safest way to receive financial aid? They do not require one to be in debt correct? Do prestigious colleges and universities offer a good percentage of financial aid? Take Stanford, Harvard, Yale, and Princeton as examples. Is it prudent to transfer money to other savings to lower income to increase financial aid? What scholarships can be offered to undergraduate minorities who have high GPAs?

  1. Yes, scholarships and grants are free money and don't have to be paid back, but the largest grant you can get from the government is a little over $4000 per year. You'll have to take out student loans or get scholarships to cover the rest. If you get into an Ivy League school don't hesitate to take out student loans, they will be worth it!!
