  1. If you go here and put in your information it will give you a better idea of what you qualify for. One thing though if your mother can afford it it would be best for you to gain independent status as fast a s possible, it will give you more than your mother receives for carrying you on her taxes.
  2. Since you and your mother are living near the poverty level you will probably get the maximum amount of aid to include grants and loans. I have a friend that made 18,000 dollars last year and she got over 10,000 in aid, most of which were student grants. If you and your mother made only 20,000 last year you will definitely get aid.
  3. Fin Aid is just enough money to pay for tutition and books and maybe 1,000 or 2,000 dollars more for licing expenses.
  4. Alot of the financial aid that is offered depends on the school and the state. I live in Arkansas and I get $2500 per semester ( which is the maximum you can get), on top of that I also get 2 student loans that are $3000 total, one is subsidized and the other is unsubsidized. I do not work and we are living off of my husband's disability which is WAYYYYY less than $20,000 year. So, I think that you will be eligible for aid, all you need to do is apply. Good Luck!
  5. You will need to apply to find that out. It is a free application so there is not much to worry about. The schools you are accepted to will then offer you financial aid from federal, state and institutional sources. If you can not pay the application fees you might be able to wave those if you think you have a low enough income just ask the admissions office.
  6. sounds like you will be eligable for every thing as long as you go to college in the state you live in. I work in the finanical aid office at school.
