How can I get free student financial aid?

How can I get free student financial aid? I see FAFSA is used mainly but is that free or is that the same as getting a loan I have to pay back? Is there a way to get it free?

  1. Fill out your FAFSA and send it in. Depending on your family's income, your race, ethnicity, etc... you will either get free aid or a loan offer of some type (such as a Stafford Loan). The bottom line is you won't know unless you file a FAFSA. Do it soon because it's first come, first served.
  2. Filing your FAFSA is free, as long as you file it at www.fafsa.ed.gov. FAFSA is NOT a type of financial aid, it is an application your school will use to determine what types of aid you qualify for. Depending on your need, you may qualify for Federal and/or state grants as a result of filing your FAFSA, which you would not pay back, or you may only qualify for Federal Stafford Loans. The only other type of aid that you do NOT have to pay back is a scholarship, which are merrit based and you can apply for them online, through local organizations or through your college. Good luck!
  3. You should really file an FAFSA... My sister is going to college for free (and we don't have any finacial issues and she's not adopted)!! My brother also filed for FAFSA (he is adopted) and he doesn't have to pay full price for college either.....FAFSA is free, but you better make sure you get good grades because they offer more or less money for different schools (the better the school, the more the money)..... Oh yeah, don't listen to JOE, he's a jackass and a scammer.
  4. There are so many uses for old secured personal loans, and the chances are you will be able to get one quickly and easily. It's a common idea that only homeowners can get loans from finance companies. That just isn't true, most people can apply for, and receive an unsecured personal all kinds of uses. You can get loans from a few hundred pounds, up to £25,000, unsecured. These loans can be used to buy a new car, a holiday abroad, a new kitchen, the latest cell phone available, or just about anything<!--else. It is a true that you will probably pay more interest than a homeowner who takes out a secured loan. But on the other hand, they have to take out a second mortgage to get their hands on the money. http://best-loans.awardspace.com/student-loans.htm With an unsecured loan, you don't need anything, apart from the application form and a good broker. All kinds of people can apply for unsecured loans, tenants, young people, retired people, people with good and bad credit, you can even get a same-->day loan, and some companies let you apply online. The interest rate you pay will be made very clear to by the broker before you sign anything. As will the amount of the monthly payment, and how long you have to make those payments for. Any quality broker will go out of his way to make sure you understand these rules.
  5. well fafsa for filing out is free, once you get an award letter from the colleges and they list some loans... mostly they be subsidized and unsubsidized, the difference between them is that one you have to pay the interest while in school and the other you don't have to pay the interest just the amount you borrow. yes you have to pay back a loan, since you are borrowing it, however depending on you income and stuff you might be elidgble for grants which you do not have to pay back.
  6. You can go to http://www.all-about-scholarship.com it's about scholarships information. Good luck
