is there a $80 fee for filling out the fafsa form on the internet for financial aid?

I was filling out the form and at the end I was asked for my Master card number, and I was told that it was free.

1. I haven't filled it out in the last two years, but it was always free for me... and I wouldn't think that would be something they would change. How could they expect kids who need financial help to come up with $80 to fill out a "maybe" form... Crazyness.... something doesn't sound right though... contact your school and tell them what happened and DON'T give them ANY credit card info!

There are many sources to locate financial aid and scholarships for free! The form becomes available January 1 for the fall semester. First, a high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships for its current students to apply for consideration. Second, the college's financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes a college major will have a list of scholarships on its website, too. Third, the public library has a scholarship list book. It lists some scholarships that can't be located on the web. Fourth, search Google.com and Yahoo.com for scholarships based on college major, ethnicity, race, and religion. Sometimes include the state along with a club a person is associated with too because there can be scholarships tied to it. Finally, join several free membership scholarship search engines. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search based on information a person enters into a form on its website. Good luck!
9. No!!!!!!!!!!!! Google fafsa, make sure the website ends in .gov, this will tell you that it is the official government website. Filling it out is free.
