Is financial aid available for summer sessions?
I was offered loans for this semester, but am only taking one class. Does anyone know if I can use those loans in summer if I am taking the minimum hourly requirement? I am planning on calling the Financial Aid Office tomorrow, but I am curious tonight.

- YOu can get a loan for the summer but you can't get pell grant or anything like that.
- Yes, financial aid is offered during summer too. Your school's financial aid office will be able to give you the exact details.
- I am a financial aid officer. At our institution, you can get a loan in the summer as long as you are enrolled in at least 6 semester hours and have not already borrowed the max $$$ for the award year. You can get a Pell grant only if you have not used the max $$$ for the year. For us it is 2 full time semesters for the year. So.....if you were 1/2 time in the Fall and full time for Spring for example....you would still have a 1/2 Pell for Summer. But, if you went full time both Fall and Spring, you would not have any Pell left.
