How much financial aid would a 5th year get?

I usually get about $3000 a quarter from financial aid. If I stay a 5th year in a UC, how much aid would I expect to get?

  1. It depends on your EFC (Expected Family Contribution). If you have the same EFC each year and apply by the schools deadline, then you should continue to get what you have received in the past if still eligible. Having said that, you have to make sure you do not run into SAP issues (Satisfactory Academic Progress). The Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, requires institutions of higher education to establish and apply standards of academic progress that must be met by all students in order to qualify and remain eligible for assistance from the Title IV student financial aid programs. The standards against which applicants for and recipients of financial assistance are measured include both qualitative and quantitative measures. You would want to check with your school to see what the SAP policy is. Talk to a financial aid officer at your school for further information. Good luck!
