Financial aid, when can I apply alone?
I've always been a little confused about applying for Financial Aid. I am a 21 year old female, and I've been working for years. I still live at my moms, and she doesn't pay anything for me. Let alone, she recieves disability. But when I sign up on the FAFSA site, I have to add her name even though I'm almost 22 years old. It won't let me do it any other way so I'm confused! How do I apply for Financial Aid without having to put my mothers information in it?

- You have to be at least 23 or a ward of the state to be considered independant. Its stupid, but thats the way it works....Its not based on whether you're on your own or not.
- Must be 23, parent or married.. IF you can prove that she is not carrying you, you may be able to get the school to do a special circumstances and classify you as independent.. They can if they want to though most don't want to actually work for the students.. we are not important enough,.
