If I apply for financial aid at this new school, will they find out about the old school I went too?
Hello, will financial aid report to this new school that I went to Southern Illinois University. I went for a semester and failed out, so I don't want the new school to know about them. (I had financial aid at southern too)

- u cant keep that from them, theyll find out u moron. u screwed up
- Unfortuantly, yes. If not right away, they will find out, because finacial aid gets reported thru the gov't.
- yes they will know. You may be on academic probation. Just study hard. and get good grades.
- yes, more than likely they will.
- You know, you will have to include that semester you failed in your application for the new school, so yes, they already know about that academic hard time. I'd advise you to be open if you are questioned about this situation -- because things like failing a semester does affect financial aid offers.
- This sort of thing happens all the time. Don't sweat it. People go to school for a semester, flunk out, grow up a little and become good students. Yes, you do have to tell your new school, and that may affect scholarship consideration, but it shouldn't affect financial aid. Financial aid is based primarily on need. Your best bet, gradewise and from an admissions standpoint is to simply declare "academic bankruptcy." Doing so means that past grades don't count, you start fresh. I don't know your circumstances, but in your case I'd also start a local commuter type school at least for one semester, preferably a school with open enrollment (they take everyone who satisfies a minimum requirement, like a high school diploma). Do well at this school and then transfer as soon as you're sure you've got your feet under you.
- You have to face it. that school will show up on your financial aid transcript--that is separate from your academic transcript. Most admission offices require that you disclose every school you attended, so they will also catch you on the admissions end trying to hide that. Just come clean with it. The sooner the better or you might get kicked out for lying about it to the admissions office.
- They will find out. If I were you, I'd have someone write a letter of recommendation, the school will give you a chance but you have to make promises with them and if you break ur promises, they can make you pay back and such.
- They will know. You need to tell them. These courses you took will not count against you in your GPA, so don't worry about that. But there's no use trying to hide it. If you do, it's cheating and lying.
- if you don't send in transcripts from the university, you will not have them on your record. They might know that you went to another school, but it won't affect you financially, as each academic year is calculated separately.
- Yeah they will definitely know, it will be in the system and will come up as soon as they enter your social...don't worry too much, they may still give it to you, and just put you on probation for the semester.
- Yes they will know.
- yep they will find out if you don't tell them you may lose your FA all together. just call t he financial aid office at the school explain yourself and ask what they suggest that you do. I would fill out the FAFSA tonight anyway. Couldn't hurt?
