Financial Aid (FAFSA)/Cal Grant Question PLEASE HELP!!!?
Hello, I am a senior at Long Beach Poly High. I will be attending San Diego State next year. I filled in my fafsa and my EFC=$0 I have a 3.5 high school GPA My High school has sent in my gpa verification for Cal grants I was wondering, if my financial aid and cal grants will cover for my housing in addtion to tuition at SDSU? How much financial aid will i get from the FAFSA and how much will i get form the Cal Grants? Im sure i will get the highest reward for the cal grant and financial aid since my parents income is so low and i have a high GPA.

- the FAFSA will provide grant and loan money. You will probably receive 4,050 in grant money, since your efc=0, and you should be offered several thousand in loan money. I am not from cali, so I am not familiar with the cal grant. The FAFSA, however, takes into account your COA (cost of attendance) at SDSU. SDSU's COA will include housing, clothing, tuition, books, etc. I hope that helps a bit.
- you will probably get the highest amount for the pell grant which would be around $4,000 per year. The student loan- $2,625 per year. Go to the college website and go to the financial aid page and they will tell you which California grants are offered. You can also email or call the financial aid advisors at school and ask what is the average amount that they award per year. I think that you will get around $10,000 or more per year. Make sure you double check with them first. Go to the Fafsa website also. You can search for scholarships on collegeboard.com and fastweb.com for even more money!
