Student Loan for bad credit?

I do not have enough funding from FAFSA and my federal loans to complete this school year. I've been told I can take my Spring semester in the Fall but that will put me behind in my nursing program. I have bad credit (stupid mistakes I made when I turned 18, that I am trying to clean up), and I don't want to burden a family member with the responsibility of being a co-signer. Are there any legit bad credit student loans out there? When I google it, the results are insane and I know there aren't that many lenders that will help with bad credit. I dont' need a huge amount...maybe $3000 tops (I have to look at my paperwork again, but it wasn't outrageous). Thanks in advance. Also I will be done with my Nursing program in the Winter of 2009, so my loan wouldn't be out for that long, and could be paid back probably before I graduate.
