Are there any student loans out there for students with bad credit and their parents with bad credit also?

- Federal loans are based on need not credit i beleive..
- Look into Stafford Federal loans through your schools financial aid office.
- No. If you loan by yourself, your parents will be okay. But if the loan is under your parents' names, probably yes. It is not apply for school or government loan, but private loan.
- The Stafford and Perkins Federal Loans are not credit-based, but you cannot get either of those if you have another student loan currently in default. You would have to pay that off first to be eligible to borrow under either of those programs. The Perkins Loan is controlled by each school, and they may not have funds available.
