- Your best bet will be a federal student loan. These loans do not require a cosigner nor are they based on credit. Simply go to your school's financial aid office and have them help you. You will have to fill out your FAFSA in order to apply for these loans but in doing so you will also be applying for grants (money you don't have to pay back). Think about applying for scholarships as well. You can search on your own for those or go through your school. Many are need based and do not factor in grades. Go talk to a financial aid advisor and they will help get you started. I have paid for all my years of college with federal student loans. I also received many grants and scholarships along the way. I wish you best...
- Most of the federal programs (non-private) will only use your income tax information to qualify you for a loan. Sadly, most private loan sources do use your credit score to determine your eligibility. Try the non-private forms, then private. Lastly, register with fastweb.com to search for free money (scholarships).
- Well, if you fill out FASFA, your school will automatically make sure that you have funds for school, through grants and federal loans. This money goes directly to the school and what the school doesnt take in fees they will give to you for books and living expenses ,in the form of a refund check. You can choose to decline these and pay out of pocket. If you need money now because you want to take summer classes or buy a computer you should look into scholarships. You will not be able to find a private loan that does not need a cosigner and good credit.
