What is the age requirement for applying for FAFSA Financial Aid?
Public Comments
- The official site doesnt list an age requirement it just says you have to have a high school diploma or GED. Here is the site: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/faq003.htm
- In order to apply for the FAFSA, if you are age 24 or under (see thyeir website for birthdate cutoff) you must have your parents taxes in order to apply. There are exceptions to this: If you support your own child, are married, in the armed forces. (See their website for more details.) If you over age 24, you simply provide your tax information and process the application. If you are looking at a traditional college, most likely you will be required to complete your own Financial Aid applications: this includes the FAFSA, state grants, student loans, etc. However, if you are going to a specialized or technical school that offers "career training", a lot of times they have a financial aid department that will complete your application with you and FOR you. Financial aid is a lengthy process when done on your own. It is critical to complete your applications correctly and precisely. One mistake can kick back your application and add weeks to your processing time. www.fafsa.ed.gov GOOD LUCK! :)
