- If you still make under the cap off amount he can get aid. The limit to how many semesters a person can get grants is person to person so it doesn't matter if you got anything.
- If you have received the PELL Grant before and your income hasn't changed much, there's a good chance you may still be eligible for another grant. Your son will want to request a PIN from the FAFSA site and fill out a FAFSA on his own. Your info will be required too. www.fafsa.ed.gov There are other sites that try to imitate FAFSA so be careful...never pay for a site to submit your application.
- Yes probably. If your son is under 18 and you claim him on your taxes then they will go by your income. There is a question on there asking about if anyone else can claim you. More than likely he will get a Pell Grant he can also get scholarships and also (depending which state you live in) they also give money like $500 and also $300 per semester for low income families. Then there is also loans. Fill out the FAFSA as soon as possible. He should have already filled it out.
- Yes he can qualify for grants, but being a dependent still and a traditional student will make it very difficult given that he is a different type of student than you were. The family is expected to foot the bulk (if not all) the bill for students under age 23 (unless they're married, have children, served in the military - but that makes them non-traditional and independent). If you need help paying for his education, loans will probably be what is mostly used with some help from grants (like $400 or so) - there are also scholarship options as well.
