What credit card can I get with a 579 credit score?

I am a college student who is trying to get a credit card. I just recieve a copy of my credit report, that I ordered because I have been turned down for credit twice. I have six inquiries that are on my report, all of which are correct. Three of which is from citibank (from a checking, savings and e-saving account) I opened with them. I did not know that they did credit checks before approving a savings of checking account. Anyway with the six inquiries that I have and two student loans both issued on 9/2006 and a 579 credit score. What credit cards if any can I get? I tried applying for a citibank card but i got turned down. I also tried chase and they told me I have too many recent request for credit...

  1. Any!
  2. cant citibank give you a creditcard as you are their valued customer?
  3. Try Washington Mutual or Capital One, but beware the interest rates will be high when you are first building credit! I had low credit when I got these.
  4. I'm sure Chase and HSBC banks will issue unsecured credit card for you.
  5. I got a Capitol One Credit card like a year after I filled for a BK and I have had it ever since. So I would say to try them. But like somebody else said be carefull of either the really high percentage rate or one that charges you a yearly fee to have their credit card.
  6. why do want one?
  7. It will be difficult. First, you should re-evaluate WHY you think you need a credit card. Remember, there are people who survive on the street, with just the clothes on thier back and the good semaritans around them. Honestly it would be better to ask for a loan from a friend, family, etc before you go to the credit-shark companies. Anyways, after deciding about your credit destiny, if you REALLY feel you just have to have a credit card, try -Orchard Bank and -Capital One They will extend credit to just about anyone. However, if you are doing this because you need a small loan, (up to $25,000) I suggest you contact www.prosper.com and contact me there. I run a peer-to-peer lending group for ppl w/ little credit, no credit, and horrible credit. The payments are spread out over 3 years, and you can barrow a tiny amount also. The group short name is AffirmativeFinance, you should look us up! Good Luck!
