Canadians....Any financial help for seriously handicaped adult?
Looking for financial help from Government Agency or Social Group for adult with cerebral palsy . Just lost mother who was taking care of his every need. Now helpless and in serious need of help for every day basic hygiene, meal prep etc.... Social Services no help at all. Lives in small remote community without any organized services. Needs to go to senior home where meals and help is provided, but basic Social services cheque not sufficent to cover cost......Any idea who to ask for help or where to go ?????????

- Have you thought of trying to contact the provincial ombudsman? They can investigate any concerns that you have regarding lack of resources or assistance you've described. You may be able to find them in the blue pages of your phone book. As well, you can always contact the media, and when you create a fuss publicly, this may often resolve things in a manner which is fair to your friend. Or perhaps, more productively, you might have something similar to what we have here in BC: also found in the blue pages, you can find a telephone number (toll free) that directs you to various governmental branches that may be able to assist you. I hope your friend receives some assistance with the matters you've outlined above. These matters are very important, and with a recent loss and difficulty with these tasks, he's a sitting duck for depression. I hope you can find assistance quickly, no one should have to want for such basics... I wish you both the best...
