What sort of government or university financial assistance can i get for being married in college?

I'm getting married next August and I have heard that couples who have gotten married in college have received some sort of financial assistance. I'm trying to find out what this assistance is and who it comes from. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

  1. It truly depends on your income fill out a FAFSA online and registar for classes the college will send your financial assistance to you within two weeks that the semester starts, Good Luck !
  2. There are no special government assistance programs just because you're married. It is all based on income. After being married your spouses resources and income will count as part of your total income as well. May make you less eligible for aid on state, federal, local levels and the university you choose.
  3. Nothing any different than filing your normal FAFSA. But since you will be married, you will have another person to claim and not have to use your parents' income (if you still were) which can mean you will qualify for more. But other than that, no difference.
