Do you get help with Financial Aid if you have a Learning Disability?

Besides the basic form of Financial Aid that the Government offers, are there any other special grants or loans that the Government or any other organization that helps fund people with learning disability with schooling? I am not asking for a handout from the Government, I will give back to the community when I am able and educated. I just need some money and help to invest in my education. Anyway, does anybody know where I can get some financial help for school? I was diagnosed by a licensed professional, which I can prove that I have a learning disability.

  1. Most schools have student finance offices that can turn you towards sources for loans and/or grants.
  2. there is alot of help for people with disabilities you should go to ssi.gov there are links there for all of it. you can also get a grant from the sba for a business but I suggest you take classes firs.
  3. Go to your local community collage and ask to speak with the fianicial aid administrator. There's all kind of grants for all kind of people.
  4. Financial aid is based on need. If you need special help with tutoring your school should be able to provide that for you.
  5. In this day and age you can still get your crazy check like Jenny ann said but you sound young. I would do my best to get some kind of skill or education because in 10 to 20 years the government cant afford to help you. You will be scrapeing for dimes and quarters probably pushing your little juice cart with a bell on it. Yelling "jugos, limonada"
  6. Financial aid for college is an equal opportunity avenue if you fit the criteria. This is the same case for housing. There aren't any specific resources for people with disabilities, because these two areas effect everyone regardless of ability. Most of these resources go by income and other criteria. However, there may be a few scholarships available if you happen to have a disability. You can contact the financial aid office at the specific college. But it's very rare to come across one. Another avenue to look into is Vocational Rehabilitation. VR is an agency that helps people with disabilities to acquire employment and sometimes help with secondary education. Funding for education is very limited and has been cut out of the budget for many VR offices completely. However, they can assist you will acquiring grants, scholarships and student loans. One other resource I would encourage you to contact is an Independent Living Center in your state. ILCs help people with disabilities who are looking for services and resources to help them live more independently.
