Does the government provide any financial aid to study overseas?

  1. Yes, but it is partial. A lot of money is still going to come out of your own pocket for airplane tickets, food, ect..
  2. Any money that you are entitled to borrow domestically can be applied to an overseas program. Are you planning to pursue your degree completely overseas or just study abroad for a semester or year? The easiest way to find out what you're entitled to is to check with the financial aid department at your current school or the school you plan to attend. Also, there are a few government sponsored programs that help fund overseas study, especially if you're going to learn a less common language. You'll have to do some web searching but there's a lot out there. Good Luck!
  3. do you pay tax ? i know the requirement for financial aid is copy of your tax return form
  4. usually overseas the pay is low, or lower than you're used to. If you get a government loan, even a partial loan, it would take you twice as long and be twice as hard to pay it back. If you can't get grants then I'd suggest you not take that chance, especially in these days wherein you have to prepare for your future and save for your retirement.
  5. this is a very good question and i got mine answered by the international studies department at my uni. basically, if you are receiving financial aid from your uni, all you have to do is choose from the schools that are linked with your school. the money you receive as financial aid will cover the expenses and something other things that i cant really remember right now. but if you do want to study abroad, its wise if you go to the dept. at your school to get more info on this and learn more. also, its better if you go to a program linked to your uni because its much cheaper than going their with money in your own pocket.
