I have a Upromise account setup for my 3 sons. They offer to contribute 1% of purchases towards college funds. They do this by working with merchants who agree to the rebate program. Person who signs up pays nothing towards the program. There is an option to expand the program so family and friends can help. They would be sent a email link and asked to join Upromise and list their credit card numbers, grocery shopping card numbers etc. and they would also count their purchases towards the money earned toward's my son's college funds. Is this appropriate way to raise money for college by soliciting relatives? How about complete strangers? - I have a UPromise account as well. When I told my family about it, they were all for it because it's nothing out of their pocket. I think it's great!

- I think its ok. They aren't really giving any out of pocket expenses. I'm sure they would be gald to help. I don't know about complete strangers though. I'm sure they aren't going to want to help.
- hey....i am a upromise customer case representative from india..i would like to inform you..that this thing is awesome..some things i would tell u:- 1)always register your credit/debit cards.and use the credit option provided in the debit cards in order to earn contributions. 2)make sure after u register your grocery cards ,you swipe and scan your grocery cards and buy participting upromise products 3)you can also shop online at places like walmart.com,target.com and get money.make sure u go thourgh the upromise link every time u shop online 4)this one is the best :- register a citi upromise mastercard. if u use this card... you will be getting 10% EXTRA contributions along with normal contributions on grocery purchases 1% EXTRA contri ....no matter where u shop in usa!! and 2 % extra contributions on exxon and mobil locations so go ahead!!!and register for upromise. aldso invite family and friends to increase ur money!! =) annie
